I had that problem once, all it took was welding, hinge bushings and door adjustment. Problem solved in my case.

Towing a diesel 2500 Burb on a 17’ flatbed trailer

At work every now and then a customer would blow up an engine. One of my coworkers coined the phrase we can make them bullet proof we can't make them idiot proof.

Towing a diesel 2500 Burb on a 17’ flatbed trailer

I pulled my burb home from Salina Kansas on a 16ft flat bed,no problem Look at the bottom pic of post #16 that's how my ramps are, works l8ke a champ. I won't say I've had zero issues, but the most part a good setup.

    What gears

Yes,steeper gears are weaker, but at the power levels we are dealing with I don't know that it's a problem.

    86 gmc l98 head gasket

You need to find out how far below cylinder deck surface the pistons are parked. Ideal clearance from the top of the piston to the head is .039

    Carb rebuilders?

@Doppleganger has a good carb for you, compare carb numbers, work out a price. I've bought parts from mountain man,but do my own rebuilds,He's knowledgeable and I've heard nothing but good things.

Ahhh didn't read the 5th post where we find out its LS swapped.

    1968 327 in a 75 stepside

I buy blank pushrods and cut them to length on many performance builds so I can get my rocker geometry where I want it. Compensate for milled heads and more valve lift. Just because they'll adjust doesn't mean the geometry is correct.

    4l60 swap

You also need a controller for that transmission. Better swap would be 700 r4 no detents at the column ignore the the shifter markings. You can feel where the gears are. Easy swap probably need to find a junkyard driveshaft

What's the date code? Especially if they've been in the sun that would be a big part of the decision to me.

    1968 327 in a 75 stepside

If push rod length were the problem, the valves wouldn't have closed either,so the engine wouldn't have run. But If just one or 2 are bent I suppose it's possible someone adjusted those too tight so it ran on 6 or or 7 whatever, and bent the valves on the tight ones. It's usually timing chain or...

    1968 327 in a 75 stepside

You'll probably find a lot more 193s than 083s or 601s but despite all the bad mouthing people give 193s they are a great work truck dd head.better mpg and lowend torque. That's what they were designed for, the swirl atomizes the fuel so it burns better,so you use less ignition timing to light...

Stock fuel pump has a vent line. Edelbrock don’t.

^^^60s to early 70s Pontiac/Chevrolet big block fuel filter. Expensive now and getting tough to find. I found a much cheaper much newer alternate fuel filter. Not the Wix 34040 or 041 can't remember off the top of my head will try to remember to look for the box on Wednesday.

    POR 15 equivalents?

As @legopnuematic I topcoat with rustoleum no primer in non exterior situations, I do prep with phosphoric acid wash first,I follow the Ospho directions to the letter. Edit by non exterior I mean not doors and fenders, not stuff I want pretty.

Yes those heads will work, I'd look at cam timing or the cam itself. As @bucket said not bad heads not great heads, but still a decent budget performance head for a stock head.

monojet i6 drinking gallons at idle

How are you measuring this fuel consumption? I think something is off with your numbers. It has to get enough air to burn a gallon of fuel in 2 minutes or it will stall. Have you checked compression, and vacuum?

    85dually

^^^^ this. You'll spend 1/3 on fuel as you will if you big block swap. And a 6.2 will pull anything you put behind it.

    ****CAUTION, PLEASE READ****

See the price the man's asking for an air cleaner? Just a friendly suggestion for you guys pulling all your O.E. stuff. Some guys from California came to the shop, buying as many O.E. air cleaners, intakes, etc. as we could scrape up so people could make their cars legal again, and of course so...

    POR 15 equivalents?

Magnet paints chassis saver. But my true belief is the acid wash is the magic, not the topcoat,I wash with a water based cleaner( same as por 15 marine clean) I wash with phosphoric acid,I use Ospho,( same as por15 metal ready prep) I topcoat with whatever I want. The phosphoric acid stopped the...

Looking to buy our first 6.2

All I've ever had to do to mine is take a plant sprayer bottle full if diesel and spray it in the intake a few times, while cranking it,don't know if that's a recommended method but it's worked the couple of times I've needed to.Ive never cranked lines or primed the IP.

What new tools have you got lately?

I also keep a small air compressor in a dog house just off the front porch close to the driveway, for filling tires or air bubbles, moved the compressor where you could see it. Reach in grab the hose and plug, plug it in and wait a minute. I leave it turned on and pushed to the back,it never comes...

What new tools have you got lately?

There's a full 3 drawer pit box in the top and a deep cycle battery and charger in the bottom right now. I say that,I didn’t look, but I'm sure it's there,no one looks in your BBQ grill.I should put a plastic storage bin in the bottom or some sterilite plastic storage drawers. The side shelves...

What new tools have you got lately?

Sounds like a decent pit box maybe a 3 drawer with a flip top,and a decent red wagon might be a good investment. A pit box will hold a full set of sockets, combination wrenches, screwdrivers and a lot more throw it on the work bench when inside, throw it in the wagon, drag it down the driveway for...
