Have a great Snap On dealer finally

I get harrased about it too,but I have to count on my tools to not break and to do what they should. A broken tool is a huge deal sometimes. I guess not to Hobby guy with a harbor freight 10 minutes away. But to me it's a big deal. On a funnier note, back in the mid/ late 80s I had mostly...

A facett posi flow. American made, ethanol resistant, and great customer service. Well kind of. After you find their phone number they have great customer service. Because faucet isn't the name of the company and I forget what it is. They will direct you to Pegasus racing to buy it. Don't ask...

    Caster settings 1977 C10

I found you a video, seeing it done you'll understand it.better than my explanation. I don't use the wheel hub I use a piece of angle across the wheel from 12 o'clock position to 6 o'clock position.

    Caster settings 1977 C10

You need to do a caster sweep. To do a caster sweep you will need to buy/make a caster camber gauge. Wheel straight ahead turn the wheel 20 degrees right read camber, turn the wheels 20 degrees left read camber again, subtract to find the difference, multiply x 1.5 that's your caster number...

    Alternator amps

Just went and read a bunch of this,it's not his choice of 10si,12si,cs130 etc that is causing his problem. These trucks new with 10si didn't drop down to 8 volts idling. He is not wired correctly,or has some bad wires. Even then something weird is going on because even if the alternator is...

The 84 Camaro alternator I guided him to is a 94 amp 12si with belt drive. It is a drop in replacement for his 10si.

That locks the lower pivot point so people don't steal your tail gate. He wants to keep his tailgate from opening without a key.

1979 250 ci I6 heat studs - information requested - head studs or bolts?

We reused literally 1000s if not hundreds of thousands of head bolts at work 99.99 percent of the time,no issues. Of coarse if they were torque to yield or factory recommended replacement we did.

    Caster settings 1977 C10

You are supposed to check frame angle and then use a chart that I don't have. I'd go with 3 degrees positive caster, 1/4-1/2 degree negative camber and an 1/8th inch of toe. Yea measuring toe in inches is kinda crude, because the actual degrees change with tire diameter, but as long as you have a...

1979 250 ci I6 heat studs - information requested - head studs or bolts?

Used to be reusable until approximately mid 80s then they started using torque to yield bolts.

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

It's also not a frozen caliper,a stuck slide or a frozen wheel cylinder causing your low pedal, assuming you have single piston calipers. Not trying to cause trouble. Trying to save you time.

Good Ospho (phosphoric) and epoxy Test

Read SPIs info on sanding phosphoric acid treated metal. As for the person asking about spraying phosphoric acid on clean metal. Yes you do spray phosphoric acid on clean metal. It stops rust from forming and neutralsizes any microscopic rust. You wet it with phosphoric acid again then washbit...

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

FWIW to any or all of you brakes used to have a residual pressure valve to maintain slight pressure in the lines. Part of the reason was it kept the seals in the wheel cylinders under pressure so they sealed even when you weren't on the brakes, this helped prevent air from getting drawn past the...

    Alternator amps

Almost Identical we settled on Bosch do to low incidence of comebacks, and our local rebuider, our expierience was same as yours, high failure rates, short life expectancy.

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

You do start with the longest line,it removes the most fluid and air minimizing the risk of air bubbles being reintroduced to the system.

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

It's neither. A booster causes a hard pedal not a soft pedal or low. Old brake fluid is still hydraulic,so still noncompressable, so still not a soft pedal or a low pedal. Air in the lines, something out of adjustment, warped rotors, bad wheel bearings, cause low pedal. Some say old brake hoses can...

    Tailgate security solution needed

Really not much custom to make, 1 factory latch,1 premade lock cylinder, all you have to make is one pull rod. One factory latch would be your dead bolt. The lock cylinder I pictured in my previous post would be what pulled the dead bolt out of the pocket, really not much to it. Actually just...

    Front spring question

Homemade version if you make one. Drill the heads of the bolts with a large bit to make a divot on the heads. to keep from walking off the ball joint studs. Look at the one in the pic,a drill bit works fine. Use 1 short bolt 1 long bolt ike 1/3 and 2/3 with just enough length to fit between...

Good Ospho (phosphoric) and epoxy Test

Some of the paint over rust products use tannic acid as part of the process the tannic acid needs some iron oxide to work( anyway that's what I was told by one of the manufacturers a decade or so ago when I was researching it. I'd ask the manufacturer for more info, not us.
