    Wiring Harness? Choosing one?

Thank you for your replies, gentlemen. I debated how much to put in my OP, but I guess there are a lot of factors I'm trying to weigh. Overall, I am trying to minimize cash cost to some extent, but time is probably most valuable to me these days, and while I don't want to shotgun money at this...

    Wiring Harness? Choosing one?

Bummer, yeah that exact listing is in their newest paper chevy truck catalog that I JUST got like a week ago, and it is listed for $882.99. But as their policy states, prices can change anytime and the most updated price is the one on the website. Quite a price jump.

    Wiring Harness? Choosing one?

Looking at complete wiring harnesses for my ‘85 k30. American Autowire lists only one complete option on their website for an ‘85 chevy truck- their “classic update” kit, MSRP $1,069. Classic Industries has this same harness listed under “Universal Harnesses” for $883. Haven’t priced it anywhere...

    Carb rebuilders?

Thinking of sending my ‘85 Quadrajet to a rebuilder instead of doing it myself. Just too busy with work and other parts of the truck. Do y’all have any builders you use and like a lot? I have Cliff Ruggles’ book and checked out his website- someone said he had stopped doing full rebuilds? Maybe...

    SM465 locking between gears

Thanks! I don’t think I can access the top plate through the floor, but I will definitely check, and I’ll check out that flange at a bare minimum. I already wanted to change the fluid, which was one reason I wanted to see what else I could look at before putting new fluid in.

    Sound dampening

Mostly- but that humidity can come from a lot of places. Condensation mostly happens on surfaces that are colder than the moist air. Anyone who has spent the night in their rig with the windows up on cool/cold weather has seen the moisture from their breath condensed on the windows etc the next...

    Sound dampening

Condensation comes from moisture in the air- humidity or fog. If you seal the insulated areas off from the air well, you won’t have any problems.

    SM465 locking between gears

Haven’t driven the truck in 10 years, but working on putting her back on the road. When it was parked, we had an issue with the trans shifter occasionally getting locked between gears when shifting. It sometimes seemed to take forever fiddling with it to get it moving and into gear again. Any...

    Hello Howdy!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It’s gonna be a pretty boring one, but I think I’ll start a thread to document progress over in the 4x4 K20-K30 “in progress” board. I did get her running, started out really rough and got a ton better after a tuneup- though the carb still needs a rebuild. It...

    Hello Howdy!

Howdy from Middle Tennessee! Dad helped me drag his farm/sawmill truck out of the trees the other day where it has been sitting for a decade. 1985 K30 with a dump bed. The goal is to just get it running and driving in the county first, but someday down the road I’d love to gradually restore...
