4x4 shifting question from a noob

You can shift into 4H for situations like that, don't have to use 4L every time you need four wheel drive.

    1985 Monte Carlo SS

Yeah, I had an 86 Monte Carlo in high school. Wire wheel covers, vinyl top, hood ornament and all. Looked pretty grandma-ish when I first got it, but found some rally wheels off a Cutlass and put dual exhaust on it and that helped. Was my favorite car. I had a neighbor who had a silver SS. I...

First truck, first restoration. Should be fun. 1979 Scottsdale k10

230+ HP is pretty easy to get from a 350. I vote to take the block in and have it bored out and rebuild it. That is the best way to learn. My dad and I overhauled several small blocks together back in the 90's when I was in high school. Flat top pistons, a good set of heads, torque cam...

    General question about transmissions

Also some pickups had the NP833/440 4 speed OD side loader manual. Those are fairly rare though.

1981 Motorhome - Whats under its... err.. tunnel?

I had a 1978 Winnebago Brave on a Dodge chassis with a 440 and 727 with a GearVender in it a few years back. Pretty sure it was not a factory option though. That thing would cruise at 80 mph down the interstate like nothing.

How bad is the current 350? Did you get it all tore down and checked? What is your budget?

    EGR Valve and dual exhaust

Did a little more investigating tonight. I squeezed the egr valve with the engine idling and it stumbled, so I believe the passages are open in the intake. I pulled the wiring plug off the egr solenoid and I have 12v at the plug. I then used the multi-meter to check the ohms on the solenoid...

best 10 Bolt gears for highway and low end torque

If you do have 4.56s and are putting in a SM465, a Ranger OD unit would be cool. Ability to split gears and have an OD.

    EGR Valve and dual exhaust

Looking into code 32 a bit further, I found this: http://www.fieros.de/en/v6help/code32.html#:~:text=Code%2032%20means%20that%20the,closed%20under%20the%20following%20conditions%3A&text=EGR%20duty%20cycle%20commanded%20by,%2C%20(7%22%20vacuum). Problem Description: Code 32 means that the EGR...

    EGR Valve and dual exhaust

Shortly after I posted the reply above that I had everything figured out, the service engine soon light came on again. Changed out the EGR valve and replaced a bunch of rotted out vacuum lines and I still get the light. Any other ideas? Could the EGR solenoid be a possible culprit?

    350 TBI electrical plug question

Does anyone know what this plug is for? It has been just hanging the whole time we have had the suburban.

Transmission and TCase identification (Muncie + NP)

It's an SM465 four speed. Pretty sure it is a NP205 also. If it were a 203, it would have had 4 Low Lock or something to that effect on the furthest ahead shift position. In 1976, 203 or 205 would be the only T-case options. I am not sure if they put 203's behind many manual transmissions in...

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

Did you do the add-a-leaf in just the rear or the front too? Did the ride change much? I like the stance/height of your burb!

Big Block Cooling w/Electric Fans: DON'T DO IT

Interesting post. I have been contemplating a different radiator and electric fans for my '78 P30 motorhome with a 454 to see if I can get it to cool better. Maybe I will just get the radiator rodded out or re-cored and keep the original fan/clutch setup.

    New gauges installed.

If this kit comes back in stock, would it work for a '90 Suburban? In my LMC catalog, it says part number 36-1873 is for 83-87 models. I see that lower on the same page, they sell just the tach in either 5000 or 7000 RPM's and show it for 79-91 models. Just curious what the difference might be?

    Mastercraft Courser CXT

I agree. Love the CUCV wheels, dog dish hubcaps and agressive tires. That really makes that old 'burb look tough. Well done!

    Carb upgrade for 250 I6 in a C50

Thanks for the input. The carb needs to be rebuilt, so was debating on fixing it or replacing it. Sounds like I would be best off just going through it and rebuilding it.

    Carb upgrade for 250 I6 in a C50

We have a C50 truck that has a flat bed on it that we use to haul scrap, dirt, hay, etc. Originally equipped with a 292, my Dad replaced it when it was in need of an overhaul (burning oil/blow by) with a 250 he had found out of a C10 that had recently been overhauled. He got the 250 for $200...

    14 bolt FF fluid questions

The trailer that was in the headache rack picture is one that my Dad built for my Grandpa back in the 90’s. My little brother has both that pickup and the trailer now. It was an ‘85 C10, so it has a 10 bolt axle. I believe the pickup had the heaviest spring package that a half ton could have...
