    ORD Traction Bars

No info on on the traction bars but you should be able to get an idea of the needed pinion angle. For a standard driveshaft: Frame sitting close to how it will be at ride height (levelish front to back), and powertrain mounted where it belongs Put an angle finder on the transfer case output...

    Shocks and valving

Honestly man, your springs are the biggest factor in harsh ride. These trucks were stiff enough on stock springs and lift springs just make it worse usually. If you want something cushy I would bet you will need to go to something like ORD springs, there are probably other options I just...

    Power Steering Pump Differences

Not sure I’m tracking on the U shaped part, are you talking about one of these? The top one bolts to the block just below the head, the lower one bolts to the front of the block just above the pan rail. The orange circle is where the U bracket bolts and the green one is where the aluminum...

    Power Steering Pump Differences

IDK I think it is kinda like the rear bracket on the alternator, takes some of the stress off of the aluminum and keeps it from twisting.

    Transtar 2k Epoxy Primer Problem

Yeah, in 70+ heat that stuff should have catalyzed and hardened within a day even without being in the sun. You made the right decision to strip it off. You said someone else sprayed it for you right? Was there any product left over? If so, the leftover should be 50/50 or even amounts if they...

    Power Steering Pump Differences

I’m assuming you have this pump, this is the pump from my BIL’s ‘97 I bought him when he turned 16. The extra electronics are for the variable steering pressure option which we deleted. Here is one like mine from one of our spare vortecs, the only difference is the fitting highlighted in...

It’s not too bad, the belt is hanging loose right now

    Power Steering Pump Differences

Talking with Dad he said some of the GMT400 trucks had variable steering of some sort. Those ones used a different fitting in the pump, he said if that’s part of your issue that the fittings in the pump are all interchangeable so you can swap it out for one with the other style fitting

    Power Steering Pump Differences

I searched through all my summit and Oreiley purchases and found which high pressure line I used. Looks like it’s an 81 to 87 V8 stock high pressure line.

    Power Steering Pump Differences

@Doppleganger Here’s mine, ‘98 pump on ‘80 K-10. I know you abandoned the L31 brackets but the pump should be in the same spot. Let me know if there’s any specific angles you want to see I think I just made my own return line and added a bit of a loop so it would be long enough to allow a...

    Power Steering Pump Differences

I can’t remember what I did but it wasn’t very complicated IIRC. I’ll get some pictures in a bit. Also, the GMT400 has the gear box inside the frame because the frame is about a foot wider than the squares. Square has narrow frame & saddle bag gas tanks, late 90’s had a great big tank inside...

    Broken shift tube?

It should shift just fine, just won’t collapse in a hard collision. The two piece design is only a safety feature and has little to do with operation

    Caulking In Bed

I agree with the 3M seam sealer recommendation, my Dad recommends 3M Fast 'N Firm (08505) but I haven't used that one yet. I have used a few tubes of 3M Urethane (08362) and have been very pleased with it.

    Transtar 2k Epoxy Primer Problem

What @waterpirate said… If it didn’t cure already I would bet you had bad catalyst, or improper mix. Is it still sticky? If so I’d just strip it off, why spend all the time and money building up from a poor foundation. Epoxy is is a PIA to sand and will clog paper quickly compared to a...

Can your granny open your trucks door?

LOL… How many late model GM trucks have you noticed with busted tailgate latches or trim. How many plastic retainers on door handle rods have ruined your day. The thing GM isn’t known for is quality tailgate latches, door handles, and rod clips.

Can your granny open your trucks door?

^^^^ I was thinking something similar A remote door pop solenoid tied into the latch release button rod would pop the door for you and keep it stock looking. If done right the button would still function by thumb too... Something like this Dakotadigital CMD-4001X...

Can your granny open your trucks door?

I had to replace the handles on my ‘07 Yukon several times. I do think you’re onto something with the thumb vs hand argument. Also with that is push vs pull. When you say that you greased it did you grease everything? I cleaned the latch mechanism in the hot tank and scrubbed all of the dried...

Best Spent $$ for Square Restoration

I wont argue the issue of storing new parts and hardware results in loosing things but... When I started my project in October of 21 I steadily watched prices increase and items end up out of stock for extended periods of time. By about February I had done enough research and shopping that I...

    LS Fuel Pump

Really, the ‘87 tanks with baffles are fairly affordable. I think mine were right at about $100 per tank when I did mine

    LS Fuel Pump

AFAIK they fit fine, disadvantage is not having a baffle to keep the pump fed when fuel sloshes in the tank

    LS Fuel Pressure

IIRC I was having a high pressure issue from wiring the tank switch valve wrong. It was causing the system to try to return to the wrong tank but would not flow at the volume as it did when wired correctly. I went through 4 used L31 manifolds (and regulators) half of them were no good driving...

Help me figure out what to do with this truck

^^^^ Yup I’ll add, let it sit as a parts truck until the ‘75 is done. All of the little parts needed really add up when bringing these things back to life. Even simple stuff like factory nuts and bolts are always needed and way nicer than anything you get at the tractor store or Oreileys
