Maxwellvis. A 20 year old with a 1949 Chevrolet truck.

Here you can see the self guided roller rockers he installed. The Comp roller rockers he has do not fit with out some machine work, ain't nobody got time for that! So these will work just fine. I don't remember if these are all 1.5 or 1.6. I know he has a mix of the Comp rockers. Loads of room...

Maxwellvis. A 20 year old with a 1949 Chevrolet truck.

Back at it now. Neighbor turned us in to the city's code compliance office for having junk cars and parts all over. Fykk you Karen. This is not a HOA, so piss off. With the city on my back, his truck needed to be put back together. Holley 570CFM Street Avenger carb sitting atop a Ebay Vortec...

Who is or has run a 307?

307 Freshness... This one was just reassembled. We bought it as a running fresh rebuild for Max's '55. His '49 truck needed an engine, so he began the transformation. It now wears a set of Summit Vortec heads (GASP!), a ebay Vortec air gap intake, and a Holley 570 Street Avenger. It should be...

    Question about headers

Something like that. We will someday put the A/C stuff back into it.

    Question about headers

That is not a post by me. Strange as I have been online with the "Catbox" handle since 2005. I always find it weird when that name is already taken on a forum.

What have you done to your square lately??

It is in great shape, but junior said they are hard to find at junkyard prices like we found ours in. So he said to put it into the stash for when perhaps a 1/2 ton comes along....

5.7nhigh millage what oil do you use?

Usually the house brand or what's on sale. It is slippery and does a good enough job that my lifters aren't wiped out yet. When I switch to a roller lifter engine, I will still use the house brand. Easy peasy.

What have you done to your square lately??

Kid wanted to go camping, so on went the canopy. Also we have changed the rear bumper from the sport bumper he had put on to a normal, more functional one we pulled from the junkyard a while ago.

These adapters make a ball and socket joint easy peasy.

    Question about headers

Mine are from a 1968 to 1972 Big Block Nova. They do not hang down at all on my 454, you can see the crossmember is lower than they are here. I had to put my head on the ground to see the collectors and my truck is a stock height 3/4 ton. And if you are worried about clearance around the...

    Question about headers

Just make sure they have thick flanges on them. Do the heat cycle thing and like Eric said use the Remflex gaskets. I have used headers on my big block truck and they fit in there like they were built for it. They are a set that was intended for a Nova. You will need to attach your current...

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

Yuh. Quality paint with proper UV inhibitors is a must. See my '54 Bel Air. I overlooked some mechanical issues it had as the paint was done and the interior complete. Here we are just after I purchased it with a driver quality paint job done in metallic maroon and pearl white. Roughly a year...

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

Not trying to argue with you, but, I would think that a powered subwoofer amplifier would be built to withstand the environment that it has been designed to live in. Traditional amplifiers may not be built the same as those designed to be incorporated within the box. I just know those little...

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

You should be just fine at those power levels with what you are proposing to run. Those little speakers will only pull what they can. They will pop well before you need to start adding capacity to the charging system.

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

Skar is a fine enough amp, loads of people use them. Stay away from too good to be true stuff with inflated power numbers. Always consult the reviews and what I like to do is look for a review on YouTube from Williston Audio Labs. He runs them on the dyno to see if they are able to put out the...

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

Also check with the local colleges that have auto body programs to see if they would be interested in doing the work. You pay for materials and perhaps they learn on your truck. If they have mistakes, they get to learn the right way to fix them too.

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

No better time to learn to do it yourself. Paint work is quite expensive now a days. If I want to paint one of mine, I will probably go the DIY route to see how it turns out. I also know a couple of my sons friends work in auto body places now and they will do the work for the experience and...

Ahhhh I see now. I was thinking of the OP and his wishes for a 468. Not your giant block 572.

    Big Block C1500

Ahhhhh yup. What @Ricko1966 said. Those are not what you want. Especially for a test set of headers. Find something used to try similar to what I have done. I know for a fact that Corvette headers DO NOT FIT. A while ago I found a set of those very expensive Hooker Super Comps. They turned out...

    SBC Cylinder Head Decision

I would think that a small intake runner to keep the air/fuel charge moving as fast as possible would be best for a 4x4. Of those you have listed, the Brodix heads are the smaller options at 180cc. Pair those with something like a Comp Cams 262 in your preferred lifter style and you should...

    Big Block C1500

And for headers.... I have found that a set from a 1968 to 1972 big block Nova fit just fine. I have a manual transmission, I cannot see an automatic being any more of a hassle. A buddy had a set that he was not going to use anymore and gave them to me. They had been previously beat on by the...

    Big Block C1500

Welcome from Oregon! If I were just starting to look for an engine to build into my new street machine engine. I would source a 1996 to 2000 7.4 Vortec 454 to build from. They already have roller cams and that just skips some of the worry when you first start them up. Rollers don't need the...
