    Smog thoughts

Ya, this. please do this, some people like to have their emission system fully functional, and in some areas that stuff is required to license the truck and some of that parts are made of unobtainium.

    2003 Acura MDX

One of my-self rules is that I won't own anything I find to be to big of a PIA to work on. If I felt that way about the MDX it would have had a for sale sign in the window right off. For me, I sometimes can really enjoy working on my own rigs, but on the flip side sometimes I need the vehicle...

Did the spark plugs today. To early to drink, but it would be a 1 whiskey and coke job or 1 beer, for you beer drinkers. About 45 minutes, and since it is a V6 a guy could get in 2 drinks. Do the back plugs drink a whiskey and coke, get a refill and do the front ones. The old plugs look just...

    Show your daily driver

I've got another thread going on on my new daily driver, but since posted in here previously regarding my DD I figured I should update it. So my 1996 GC was suppose to be my daily driver, but in all reality I daily drove my 84' C20. 2ish weeks ago I was given a practically pristine 2003...

Loud Knock After Replacing Intake Manifold

This. It's impossible to do anything other than guess without getting to hear the knock.

    2003 Acura MDX

Looks like I'm just a little past 2 weeks of ownership, so thought I'd give an update. Though I love driving my square, the MDX will make a fine commuter and more. A car as would typically be used for a commuter vehicle is totally inappropriate for my life style, but it's quite clear that...

    daily driving/work truck use

As for mileage it's not going to be great compared to anything new, but keeping it in good tune, plugs, wires, cap & rotor + fuel system will get you the best mileage you can. As for reliability, same thing. Keep it up, keep an eye out for problems coming up and keep some spare parts with you...

Well the MDX just checked another box. My wife likes it. Her comment getting into it today was "wow this is a really nice car". And then, part way home after we'd bought groceries in town she was going on about how we should take it on the next overnight trip. Yes, she'd like to see me keep...

Which is the correct fuel tank ?

    So I guess I should give all the configurations I'm aware of in one post: The options for long beds were: 1 single 20 1 single 20 - 1 single 16 2 - 20's Short bed options: 1 - 16 or 2 - 16's. 20's won't fit a short bed.

Which is the correct fuel tank ?

No those I gave earlier were for long beds only Short beds got 1 - 16 or 2 - 16's. 20's won't fit a short bed.

Driver Side Gas Tank Sending Unit no longer available

@AuroraGirl Passes my stiffer. As you know the only difference between the right and left side sending units is the direction of the metal line. And you can put the wrong side sending unit in a tank. For example a left sending unit in a right tank. It just takes a little extra rubber line to...

Which is the correct fuel tank ?

IIRC The options were: 1 single 20 1 single 20 - 1 single 16 2 - 20's My Dad had one such truck a 78' K20 with one 20 on the left and one 16 on the right. With that said I would install 20's on a long bed regardless of what came with it for the extra 4 gallons.

The best part for me was seeing it go though the mud and up that hill which I'm sure was slick with mud and water. The going over the rough dry stuff where he got one wheel in the air is cool to see, but I'd never encounter that! Thanks for the video!

Some AWD system are really great and some not so much. Not personally knowing anyone with a MDX I wasn't sure, but I can see now that will work out well.

    2003 Acura MDX

Ok I've driven the MDX a couple of days now and have a gas mileage report based off what the trip computer is telling me. And yes I reset it when I first started driving it. Remember my prior calculation I was hoping to get at least 17.5MPG, check this out. Yea that's what it says 19.7MPG...

I've been with Allstate for near 30 years. I've switch agents something 7 or 8 times. Someone retires, another agent gets my policy I don't like them and change agents has been the primary reason. Some of those switches we because I was not happy, and another agent was able to serve me better...

On the insurance thing. Wow, just discovered a few months ago that we have been flushing money for years! My wife, or the woman I can my wife to whom we are not legally married, we have had separate car insurance policies with her insurance on the cars she owns and my cars on my policy. Well...

    10W-40 for Chevy 350

Now wait a second here. There is a huge difference between an 350 and a modern engine. And some modern engines call for 0W20 to. Setting that aside if you were to pour 10W30 or 10W40 into a modern engine the VVT system won't work and that will set a check engine light. That and those motors...

I can't tell ya'll how much I enjoyed my drive home. First of all the automatic climate control system is light years ahead of the Jeep's automatic climate control. It works so well and requires zero fiddling with and never made me to hot or to cold. It quickly brought the interior up to temp...

    2003 Acura MDX

I just did the insurance thing this morning. 6 months worth of coverage is $6 less than the Jeep, $7 less than the minivan and $60 more than the truck, the truck which is cheaper than all my other rigs. So it's inline. But and this is one of my points when I say this is temporary and in the...

    2003 Acura MDX

I guess I should put the premium thing into perspective. The Costco by the shop is currently at $3.79 a gallon regular, $4.15 premium. So the MDX has a 19 gallon tank, so for the sake of discussion and round numbers let say I pump 15 gallons into it. That's $56.18 for regular, $62.25 for...
