Good advice from Eric, also sounds like a head gasket leak. You can check this when you get it home. Fill back up with water, start it, (may have to pull the dist., cap and dry it out,) and leave the cap off. Look for bubbles in the water. If you gun the motor, and water gushes out, and the oil...

I use a Starrett 12" square blade and "calibrate" all my tape measures by bending the front hook tab. You can measure within .015 easy, have been doing this for fourth years as a Journeyman Machinist, no BS, and I put my finger between the body and the tab, to protect the tab from slamming into...
I do have a small cam, and an E-brock airgap/ 750 Holly 1450, but the 1 7/8 headers helped. I use a Bosch and AEM A/F meter to calibrate the carb. Installed the gage in the dash.
I bought a Milwaukee buffer, best thing I ever bought for buffing, which is what I would do. Wax that thing, it will look awesome the first time, and better each time after. Here are some before and after pics of my 85 C20
Looks like a Dana, as it has the spreader holes, D60 fronts are rare, wish I had one too, so it is most likely a D44. Make sure it has the right side drop so its compatible. My K20 has one, I like it, it is behind a big block. Here is the build if you want to check it out...
Very cool writeup Hotrod, now I know you a little better. Wish I was closer Doug, would give ya a hand. I to had a Muncie with Hurst comp plus in a 53 3100 PU 63 car rear
end, 4:56 posi, it was fast but not real good at high speed, but hey that 283's never blew up, and it saw 8000+ often. I...
I built mine with an ATSG 350 book, and a HP books Rebuilding your Turbo-Hydro 350, Wished I had had Nick back then.
Listen to the shift, blew the right side rear tire chunk. Modified 454.
I have vacuum on the 73, never was that great, Going to hydraboost, as Aurora Girl said, good for big cammed engines with low vacuum, like my engine. My 86 is hydraboost and I like it alot, will put the exact unit in my 73.
I know Perry!!!
Anyway I did some calculations and with 4:56's 28" tire, in fifth, (.74) at 135 MPH, RPM are a lazy 5467, and the .05 6th is barely turning over at 3694, so she's gonna be a cruiser.
Rob, I have one in a truck I bought for the body, and the big rear brakes. I plan in taking the brake stiff, but have new stuff on the old reared. LMK, if interested, and I will check it out. It was a camper special, had the heavy springs, and most likely 4:10, it is a ff. Do not have the...
Stock heads, 243’s, have not gotten a cam…..yet. I had a 1998 Z28 with a LS1 small cam, and it would get you in trouble fast. It had a 4l60e pos that blew up twice. This is a jump in and go anywhere car, so reliability and easy service are important. 4:11 gears will still let me cruse, run at...
Called Church Brothers Racing, I like there rear tir 4 link, The pic shows a Ford 9", and I have two, and will narrow them in house. According to them, the rearend is narrowed about 2" a side, from stock.
called Clay Mullis @ Full Tilt street rods, here is the kit:
This will have GM 11" Metric brakes, Viking double adj coil overs, power rack and pinion. This will be fast and easy to install, and comes with LS motor mounts, and a universal trans mount for the T56.
So as I get closer to working on the nova, I wanted feedback from any of you nova guys. I have scrounged two mustang ford 9" rears, though I know they will have to be shortened. Plan on using Church Boys tri bar four length. I also can get an 8.8 Explorder rearend, they are great, easy to...
Dang it Paul....I was just thinking I needed to get a opener for the shop door, it is heavy. I know that you can adjust the springs, and in the past I have, but it was a little scary. No way I am doing that now. Dang, gotta get one..
