I saw this article this morning. It has some good info and pictures.

Some of the old trucks didn't have the timing tab that mounts to the timing cover. They had a small sight that you looked down through in the water pump mounting area. It's located between the back of the pump and the block. Many of them are missing. Just throwing that out there, my truck was...
They look good to me. There's not much originality to any of these old trucks. I've tried to keep as much as I could of the old interior parts, not so much in the engine compartment.
I found this article online. It has some good info on Chevy factory wheels.

Yes that
Yes that is the cruise control module. Don't just throw it away they are hard to find. Someone will want it. Don't be like me and get rid of a bunch of hard-to-find stuff. Then years later wish you had it back. Not sure on the wiring.
Ordered my dust seal for the slip yoke. The splines look ok. I have always kept this greased over the years. The shafts are keyed just like the transmission, with one larger spline. just as I had guessed there was no sign of a seal. It must have deteriorated years ago. See the link below. The u...
I found a listing for the slip yoke seals. They are called dust boots they are a Spicer part. Northern Drive Train carries them. Now to find the correct one.
Awesome thanks. The CV joint still moves fairly smooth, you can still feel the spring force it back in place. I'm hoping the ball is ok, and just the u joints need to be replaced. I'll buy the kit any way. Have you seen the seal on the sliding yoke for sale any where ?
It's the front- front driver side. Does that even make sense? :33: Yes, I was looking at the ORD's to go back with. I have their front rear spring hangers already installed. I removed a couple off of the back frame using an air hammer, it sucked. There was a broken bracket just on the frame...
I replaced the transfer case front output seal. It's a fairly easy job, its better if you have a lift. I don't:confused:. I found removing the front shaft made it a lot easier. It frees up some room to install the new seal. I had to do the old freezer trick on the seal. I couldn't get it to...
Awesome looking truck. Did you end up with a 4" lift? I really like the way the truck sits, and the paint color. As a side note for a truck leaning to one side, I found one of my front spring hangers worn. The bolt had worn through the poly bushing and egged out the spring hanger bracket hole. I...
A little off topic, but Chevy and Ford have brought back the different colored roof on the new trucks. I've seen several running around the area. The ones that I have seen have black cab roofs. I guess what's old is new again.
Thanks for the replies. It's the front output seal that's leaking. I watched a you tube video. The job looks easy. I'm going to buy the repair sleeve just in case.
Can you or have you replaced the output seal on the T case while its in the truck? It's a 208 . The paper work talks about having to cut the seal in pieces and then pulling them out. Mine is leaking enough while the truck sits that its becoming a problem.
Here is a link to some kits. https://www.summitracing.com/search/year/1986/make/chevrolet/model/c10/department/exhaust/section/exhaust-systems-kits/part-type/exhaust-systems?fr=part-type
To test the coil for Ohms , you would need a volt, ohm meter. I've had the pick up go bad it's the part that reads the signal from the reluctor ring when it spins.
Do whatever you like. I put new Z-71 emblems on my truck. I put them where the Silverado emblems would be. My truck was stripped of all the trim and emblems by the PO. I'm thinking of buying a set of Texas Edition emblems and putting them on her. I have a set of Trail Boss decals but haven't...
I've drove mine last winter, with no problems. In SE Texas we don't get many days below 40. I could see if you were in freezing temps for months that it would be a problem. What if you ran a heat riser to the air cleaner?
I'm on the TX gulf coast, the Vortech's work fine down here. I went with a GM HYD roller cam . The HT 383 ,Ram Jet engine cam. I'm really happy with this combo. Agree with making power below 5000 rpm. I'm not drag racing my K-10.
