    ahhhh!!! my eyes! shiny....must...look...away..... :) very nice looking! yes, it does make a difference which side you put the guards on. i put mine on the wrong side the first time. looked like snaggletooth. looked straight after swapping them. ;)

    i'd just remote a high amperage latching relay and call it done. wouldn't have to worry about what gauge wire etc etc. you could even 'toggle' the relay from a 9v battery if you didn't want to run the relay actuation power from the vehicle battery. good luck!

    my '85 k20 has a line coming off that very port. about 3 inches going up to a tee junction. it then goes to the driver's side 'vacuum ball' (cannonball shaped container mounted on the fender), and the other side runs through the firewall and onto the back of the AC/heater control 'cluster'...

    finished putting down the vinyl flooring in the k20 https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/webmonkeys-1985-k20.28635/page-2#post-562083 waiting on replacement sill plates. trying to figure what way i want to attack the seat. it's not trashed but needs recovered or a saddle blanket. :)

    some help sourcing a vacuum line would be appreciated

    there is a 'hard plastic' vacuum line going from the intake manifold to the climate control 'box' (the thing with the fan switch, hot/cold lever, and a/c,vent,heat,defrost lever) the hard vacuum line is stopped up and therefore won't operate the vacuum operated doors in the air delivery box...
