    Quiet muffler recommendations

I had to add resonators on my k5. That did the trick.Actually found some resonator tips in stainless that look good as well.

H pipe will give a very small performance increase. not worth it IMHO.

Patch Panel or Metal Fabrication ?

Miller 140 auto set is a good (not cheapest) welder. If you are just going to do auto body repair and up to 1/8" you will never need another welder. Use the .23 wire. Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten. Remember to space your welds out to prevent warping. Also take it easy...

Fuel pickup sock? What did the filters that you replaced look like?

    Inline 6 devac

Try a quart of ATF in the crankase for the valve train noise. It worked wonders on my 6.2.

I bought a 1984 and don’t know what to do???

I'm sorry your 81's wont do more than 55. My '81 takes me to my cabin in the Pocono Mts 65mi. each way every other week 9 months of the year. Interstate 78,33, and 80. Left lane most of the drive. Qjet with no choke. Never a problem starting hot or cold.

    New Member - level front ‘77 k-10

One other option would be to lower the rear to level it out. Much cheaper, depends on the look you want

I bought a 1984 and don’t know what to do???

Fuel injection and overdrive? Not needed. Guessing a malfunctioning q jet. I would have had it rebuilt. That lift will create as many problems as it solves but it's your truck and your vision. Looks fine as is.

    Tilt steering column?

Tilt and a smaller wheel will help. Good news is that later c10 wheels are a direct fit and about an inch smaller.

    front fender gap

Glad both of my squares are Natural patina trucks. So much more to consider when you are going for #1 or #2 quality. Fit and finish is the last thing on my mind.

400 SBC Build - Tight Budget

I've had/have a few 400's in my day. They are good torque motors and that's where all of the fun is. That truck wasn't designed for 450hp. Agree with others to not go crazy with the cam.

    A rattle when driving

My mistake, I see the converter was changed. Timing or a cracked flexplate would be my guess.

    A rattle when driving

If this truck has a catalytic converter the noise could be coming from there. Had that issue on my SSR.

    New K30 CUCV member

If that were my truck I would put a sb400 in it just for the added torque. I don't think 350 is enough engine for that platform,IMHO.

    350 to 292 swap.

I would not make that swap. I see a lot of work with no real benefit.

What gauge size/diameter to replace stock ??

You can mount a gauge on the windshield pillar. I have my tach there, looks fine and out of the way.

Questions about '74 All Time 4wd, HELP

Expect 10 MPG while driving the wheels off of it. Your $3,000 will turn into $6,000 in an instant. Just so you know what to expect when investing in a vehicle like this.

This is probably a bad idea, but I'm too cheap to pay for a tow.

I'd put an ad on Craigslist to find someone willing to trailer it cheaper. IMHO.

    Rotted and warped bed

There is a guy near Lancaster PA that deals in rust free southern beds. Also spring Carlisle would be a good place to look. Would save a lot of work and $ to just swap it out.

    Tools for trip

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned a leatherman. I never leave home without one. Don't try to take it on the plane, they will take it for sure. My favorite one is the "Blast".

Scrapping Truck -- Parts To Keep?

Non AC dash pad inserts can be hard to find. Cut the speed nuts off with a dremel. Twisting will just shear the plastic studs.

    HF plastic welding kit

Splash shields are $15 from LMC. Like a sore d**k, can't beat it! Why bother trying to repair the old brittle ones?

    MACHINING 16.5" DOWN TO 16"?

This is an experiment i would not try. Do you really want the possibility of failure at speed?
