Can I fix this by cutting out and only replacing outer?

Too bad we don't live closer, I'd be willing to help you out! To expand on what @TotalyHucked stated the welding can do some warping. However, a quick tack, then opposite end of panel another quick tack....basically all over the place jumping around until done would help this to not happen, but...

Can I fix this by cutting out and only replacing outer?

In my opinion, a few different ways to do this, and depends on what you want your outcome to be when completed. You could replace the side as mentioned above. You could also replace the whole box with another white one if you found one somewhere, and basic tools to replace it, or of a different...

    Question for C30 Dually owners.

True: he worked on many of these rigs when they were new, and my dad also had a 78 Suburban, Trailering Special, 454 and 2wd. Beautiful rig too, pulled the old Wilderness camper like a **** after he removed smog crap and updated internals on the engine....sorry, I digressed. His had a limited...

How to time my engine, with a cam degreed at 1.25 degrees advanced??

Thanks for that info Ricko. I have actually not timed it yet, I took another few steps back once again on it and have the valve-train taken apart right now to put in adjustable rockers & heavier pushrods. Once I get it back together I will be re-firing it and then start to tinker with the timing...

    What’s up with this fuel?

I would agree with condensation in the metal can. You trying out plastic would be the way to go, I always use plastic gas cans and mix a ton of 2-stroke in the winter for my old snowmobiles. What exactly are you using AV fuel for anyhow? I would suggest not using that, and stick with no higher...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

Here is the short update: New starter installed, that was the problem, it runs great. Here is the long update: Brought the other "new" one back to Oreillys and the guy let me go to watch him test it, he put it on their machine, and when it activated the starter you could damned near count the...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

I too bet it is the starter. Interesting about the solenoid....hmmmm... Well, I wonder if I could re-build my original starter? It is a FoMoCo starter so it may be an original to the car.

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

Car is jacked up now, so I did a couple more things: Old fashioned "jump it with a screwdriver"....click is all it did. I also grounded my voltmeter, and put the positive to the housing of the starter to see if there was any stray voltage so I jumped the starter again, no stray voltage...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

You got me to look!!! There is another bolt you can see int he picture...just ever so slightly. Rubber hose going past it covers most of it up. Ok, so I put my voltmeter on the battery. It read a solid 12.3 volts (this is after I tried to start it again so it drained so slighty). I put the...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

Story of my life. I feel like I am becoming my dad (NOT that that is bad either BTW!!!), but he always drove old stuff, he kept it going, he never bought anything new. I'm glad he taught me a lot, but crap with computers and all this other jazz is not easy to work on. Heck I come here for info &...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

Yup, hot it got! That was after tinkering for about 5'ish some minutes....then we let it rest a minute or two, tried again. So the first 5 minutes, I would turn it to start and hear that click....let it sit a few seconds, hit it again & hear click....did this over and over. Reached down to feel...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

Will do, just as you also stated on the first page. I plan to work on it tonight, so that will be the first thing to do.

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

@Bextreme04 Now that is crazy, all that failure!!! Also I suppose what I could do is yank the starter off and bench test it myself too, just to watch the gear kick out & spin... Honestly, I am really thinking it is the starter, but the thing that makes think it is not is my old one makes this...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

Here is the fuse box by the battery. One positive wire goes to the end of this (to the left) to a fused link. Arrows are pointing at starter fuse, and starter relay. Here is that fused link at the end of the fuse box. Here is the reman starter, upper arrow is 2nd positive battery wire...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

I am honestly thinking I have a bad reman starter...... Tonight after work, my buddy and I had to tinker for over 30 minutes to get this mother-effer to start. All it did was "click, click click" loud....starter solenoid got hot during all of this. We even jumped his car to mine and nothing. We...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

Yes, it does. I swapped it out with a few other relays the car has that are the same. Nothing changed....Love those Impala's, I will probably have another for sure. So sick of this effing POS taurus. What a throw away car. Thank you very much for this info, I will certainly do this. The...

My daily driver has me stumped--No start/Slow start issue

I HATE admitting this, but I got a good deal from my father in law on a 2007 ford taurus with the 3.0 V6. So I thought it was a good deal, car was rust free, driven by his dad, low mileage, from californy. (Shoulda kept my 320,000 mile 2002 Impala 3800--it was lightyears ahead of this POS...

timing chain replacement selection advice / what if got after opening it up

In my opinion, you are doing here what I feel many would do! That timing set you have your eyes on, sounds perfect for this job.

timing chain replacement selection advice / what if got after opening it up

For a high mileage anything, and for what you are doing I would throw in a stock timing set from a Napa or local auto parts store, I wouldn't concern myself with brand specific unless there is a really good reason (durability, quality, reliability issues..etc.). My experience with Cloyes being...

Do I rebuild my SBC or swap for an LS3?

I would personally re-build the 350 you have. All would be fresh, and last the life of the truck. The crate 350 would be another great choice.

    Helper bag setup with C-notch?

@Big Chip by looking at it, this makes me wonder if I could add this in the future....however that setup looks to be part of the weldment of the c-notch. In that case I could probably make my own custom setup with bags, only if I need them. I do have new 1-ton springs, so it's pretty stout.

    Helper bag setup with C-notch?

I believe @Big Chip had this done on his 1 ton with helper bags because he also pulls a trailer. I purchased my static drop kit from Switch Suspension, and they have the helper bag setup also. Awesome crew to deal with. https://switchsuspension.com/
