What have you done to your square lately??

Well, the underside and floorboards will be glad to tell you a different story!! :D The outside of it has some surface rust, but holy balls a lot of metal was eaten away on it. I am making it road safe, may do a frame off down the road however. (I have a build thread in Under Construction in...

To buy or not to buy? 1977 GMC short bed Ebay $4200

That is the part mounted under the bed on the passengers side (I think), correct? I am going to assume my dually has a good one, and I should not need that part.

What have you done to your square lately??

Well, I have not done a dang thing yet with my square besides get a parts list together for the engine items I need. However, something cool did happen. The guy that originally built my dually found me and reached out to me and said it looked like his old one! Sure enough it was. I apologize...

What have you done to your square lately??

Dang man!!! I did not know you did that kind of stuff, that is such a freakin' art too! I really dig the hand engraving & stenciling that is done on some of the vintage saxophones I have seen, some of the stuff is wild. Would love some year to get my bigass Bari sax custom engraved at some...

To buy or not to buy? 1977 GMC short bed Ebay $4200

I agree, I have seen it happen many times with some hard to find vintage snowmobiles. One person says even the brand/model & others know who has one (as they are hard to find), next thing you know the guy that had posted due to excitement lost out on it because others jumped on it.

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Anyone interested in this cluster? Another thing I could certainly do is swap out the volts & temp gauge from my old cluster to the one for sale, or give them to whomever wants to buy it at no extra cost of course.

Block hugger headers for 455 Olds in GMC truck...??

True. I have scaled many-a things at work doing this same thing. Never thought of doing that.....then again I don't like to think if I don't have to :D I do like the style of the first set of headers though, wish I could find them for this 455. In this case however, beggers cannot be choosers....

To buy or not to buy? 1977 GMC short bed Ebay $4200

I have a green 76 GMC that I will be parting out at some point. I have not paid much attention to the condition of the green pieces, but I will not be needing them. Which green pieces would you need, if you are looking for used?

Block hugger headers for 455 Olds in GMC truck...??

Here are the ones I can find...but have the concern about hitting the crossmember.

Block hugger headers for 455 Olds in GMC truck...??

Good idea, I was hoping to find something like the below for this Olds engine...no luck though. All I can find for these is for 307 to 403 Olds...

Block hugger headers for 455 Olds in GMC truck...??

I actually do not have any, my concern was about the headers hitting the crossmember, or not having enough space for a bend in a 3" pipe for the collector....I suppose what I could do is buy some and see if they fit, and if they do not fit be sure I can return them..??

AWESOME news on my 76 GMC dually!!!!!!!!!!

Gent's, I updated my thread with some cool pictures of this baby when she was first done!!! The original owner who did this baby up sent me some pictures! https://www.gmsquarebody.com/thread...-dually-gotta-get-it-on-the-road-again.29806/

AWESOME news on my 76 GMC dually!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait to ask him more questions and find out more about the truck. I will also be asking where he got it from, and if he knows if that person bought it new....or maybe this guy did, I don't know. I also want to know how he stumbled upon my thread on the other site. I am sure it is just...

AWESOME news on my 76 GMC dually!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it was just out of the "Blue" :D that he found the thread on the other site, signed up as a member and contacted me about it. For anyone curious about the dually conversion kit mentioned, here below is the build thread and there are some pictures showing this kit. Now we do know, it was...

AWESOME news on my 76 GMC dually!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap guys, I still can't believe it. You guy’s won’t believe this; SO…..I am a member on a vintage snowmobile site, and I have also posted my dually build on that site. I get a message last night from a brand new member who asked “did your dually come from Iowa by chance, it looks like my...

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Now I see that. I compared it to the one from my truck (Below) and now you can see why I replaced it.\ Here is what it looked like in the truck (dead mice & all).

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Interesting! Do you think GM threw this together, or did someone modify it at one time? I ask because in the old sled world....we see some crazy crap from the factory. Considering the above, is it worth what I am asking or do I need to adjust? Thanks!

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Good info! I do not know my years that well for changes. My truck came with the bottom left indicator as a red brake light. The other 76 cluster I used from my parts truck has the large tachometer and the fuel gauge in the lower left now.

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Selling the gauge cluster I was going to use in my 76 GMC until I found my parts truck with a good cluster, so I am selling this one. As you can see, I have not taken it apart to clean it up. This has a mechanical oil gauge. Asking $150 OBO. I will also ship it (not sure on cost to ship?).

    Starts then stalls. Stumped.

@Squirrely Brother You got that right, he is cool and has way more knowledge than I do!! I am not sure if it is a friction modifier added or the fluid itself that has that smell?? Most things I do, I do best when I have hands on....I don't like reading a book to learn something, I like books...

    Starts then stalls. Stumped.

@Squirrely Brother I learned a LOT from my dad, and still do. He is a now retired GM mechanic of 35 years so he remembers many of these mid to late 70's trucks being on the GM dealer lot, and worked on many of them!! In fact two years back coming home from camping in Northern MN using our 2001...

    Starts then stalls. Stumped.

I assume yes to this but, have you pumped on the gas pedal when it starts dying on you? I assume you have a mechanical fuel pump due to you turning it over and seeing fuel afterwards. Have you tried an auxiliary tank? I just use a 1 gallon gas can, and a short length of snowmobile fuel line to...

Block hugger headers for 455 Olds in GMC truck...??

As the title says, I am not not sure where I should go, or what style of block hugger headers to look for to use on my 455 in my 76 GMC (1-ton crew). On set I found (Sanderson) looked really nice, but they dump straight down in the center and the cross-member of the truck I feel would be in...
