    Your wiper motor is on the firewall and that is the washer fluid pump on the bottle. When you hit the washer function the wipers should start moving, and the pump motor should turn on for the time you're holding wash.

    Definitely can happen with the ones that hook over the coils. This one goes up through the center of the coil and the two steel plates collapse the spring but also trap it in place so bad things can't happen.
