@Turbo4whl Yeah, I don't even recognize that type lighter. I guess the original was changed out before I got the truck back in '81. When I changed out the lighter before this last time, I had a box of other spares and just put pieces parts in until I found one that worked, then that one failed...

    Dashpad fit

@roundeyed square, I've had my whole system out a few times to clean it. Ever seen the crap that accumulates inside the system, all the ducts and whatnot? I can be nasty. Bugs, stray leaves that blow in, even mice nests, pencils, coins, you'd be surprised what you may find that fell in there...

@Snoots You are probably right because as I recall now I did have to pull the ash tray to install the lighter socket and it may be the part that's defective. Those kinds of things are probably best fixed by replacing the whole thing, even though pulling that ash tray is another pain in the you...

2 barrel carb - barking up the wrong tree?

@CheemsK1500, I to am a big fan of Webers. I've always wanted to have three different intake manifolds set up to put on depending on how I feel at the time. One with a four bbl on it, another manifold with three 2 bbl's on it, and another one with a couple of Weber's on it. Yep, the adapter...

I put in a new cigarette lighter recently and it worked fine for the first few times then it didn't work one day. So I did the first thing you do and that was I checked the fuses. I found one blown, no big deal, and I put in a new one. Then the next time I used it, it didn't work. So the first...

Gluing in the broke out piece

@SirRobyn0, Yep! That I know. And yeah, it's to bad. Now, I'm not saying a person should be without their car for several days while the techs beat out a fender in order to preserve the craft. And yeah, since cars are made out of plastic these days, it is cheaper to rip the fender off and...

    Camero parts

I just found a great site for Camero's if anyone has one. The site is called "Heartbeat City" or heartbeatcity.com . I came across something I'd like to look into putting into my truck and that is what it's calling, " front fender to radiator support bars". they keep the front sheet metal...

Gluing in the broke out piece

Yep, you're right about that. That's all these shops do around here is replace. The days of working a fender or some other body panel are dead and gone. They don't care about learning craftsmanship anymore where a man would hammer out dents. They just rip the thing off and bolt another one...

    can seat belts be re-dyed?

@fast 99, I have always taken the belts out and scrubed them with a brush and Dawn dishwashing liquid and they have always come back soft and the color looked brighter as well. A lot of times dust, body oil, and wear makes them look faded. But if you'll wash them real good with the Dawn and...

Gluing in the broke out piece

@AuroraGirlI figure in the hood, I think it being flexible as it is plastic welding, if you had the time would be the best way to go if you wanted to experiment with that method. But yeah, JB weld would be the quickest for sure. @SirRobyn0, I wonder what shops use the actual "plastic...

What is the sticker in the glove compartment?

@Keith Seymore, That makes sense. I searched around the internet for a blank one but couldn't find one anywhere. I first looked at LMC because I knew they had some stickers but they didn't have that one. If I could find one I'd just use what I could see from mine and just type in the...

Gluing in the broke out piece

@SirRobyn0, @Corvette Ed, Okay, I just watched a YouTube video on repairing a crack in a plastic car fender with a repair kit that has the soldering iron with a temp. control box attached to the iron to make settings in heat for the different types of plastic. The guy used, in this case a "PP"...

Gluing in the broke out piece

@SirRobyn0, So what prompted your shop needing you to learn plastic welding instead of just gluing the parts together with some of that stuff I showed? The two part epoxy.

    Blinker light problem

@Jalopy, I'm dense today, you mean the bulb was burned out? @AuroraGirl, You're right sometimes it will blink faster. But the physics don't always do what they are supposed to be and I've had them blink slow, or not blink at all and just come on and stay on. I understand how it should work...

    Blinker light problem

@75gmck25, Yeah, that's the other headlight ground wire. One at the battery bolted to the radiator support, another one over on the driver side headlight at the radiator support, one going from the battery to the frame. I always check the ground wire at the battery on the radiator support to...

Gluing in the broke out piece

@Corvette Ed, Oh, I've never heard of that before. I see you said using a soldering iron, but I'd have to see it done to understand the method. Is there a You Tube video I can watch to see the process done? And does the process have a name, like Sub Arc welding, etc.?

    Finished broke out piece

@Goldie Driver, I absolutely loved Humbrol paints!!! A professional modeler turned me onto Humbrol and at that time we had a superior model shop that sold all of the colors. I hand painted a WWII German bomber that was used up in Norway that was a huge skiplane bomber. I don't remember the...

    Finished broke out piece

@Goldie Driver, Thank you. I just wish I could have found a different color black. I'll have to go back over to Hobby Lobby and see if they have another black. I didn't even know there were different blacks until recently. I figured black was black. No it isn't, especially in car colors...

    Blinker light problem

@Jalopy, No, you've got a burned out bulb. That's what I have found from years is that the offending light will blink slower, and then when the lights are on the blinker light stays on, that means it's burned out. Check it.

    Finished broke out piece

Pics. The above pic is after the piece was sanded. There was a couple of bumps on the turned down front of the piece. Now it looks and feels much straighter. It's a little low right at the place where it meets up with the lower trim piece but there's nothing I could do about that. Otherwise I...

    Finished broke out piece

I let the glued in piece dry for an extra day. Yesterday I went out there and pushed my thumb nail into the glue and it was still a little soft so I knew to let it dry for another day. So today I went out to the truck and the glue was hard so I went ahead and sanded it down flush with the...

@shiftpro, Yes. And the only other one is the Locktite made "Repair Extreme", if you can find it. But either one will glue that tool.

    1977 C10 Police Truck

Louisiana doesn't allow anything that looks like a cop car except just black and white paint and even that is frowned on if it's like police. That's why years ago the cops changed their paint to just white, no black, and police dept. writing and other stuff akin to local cops, but white only...
