'73 Chevelle SS Wagon (local find)

At least on a 70s 350 you can change the fuel pump easily...no tank dropping involved like the newer stuff. Had to replace the in tank pump on my OBS Burb a couple years ago and it was not a pleasant experience, and I had help who had done the same job recently on a relative's Burb.

Best Truck Roof Top Tent for Weekend Camping?

We have those here in Houston too. My OBS 2wd Crew Cab does more off roading than they do!

    Front discs won’t release

Someone else on here had a bad/stuck proportion valve, maybe that's it? I'd check the switch too, those are definitely failure points after 40-50 years....

    Old77’s GMT400 SWB 4x4 5-speed project/DD

WOW....I need to do ball joints on my C3500 Crew Cab. Uppers are riveted but it REALLY needs upper control arm bushings so I'm just gonna get new arm assemblies. Lowers on the 2wd are press in. Did the last set of these on the R2500 Burb many years ago. Left side went okay, the right side...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

There are still several regular yards on North Shepherd, and in other parts of town. Went to some of them a long time ago with Dad, when he was looking for different things. I enjoy going to the self service yards and doing research, like last year when I had to get into the front passenger door...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

Yup ours was starting to dissolve that way too. So much for "black cars don't rust", one of Dad's favorite quotes....

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

The self service yards in Houston have been that way, since they were Pick Your Part, back in the mid 80s. It was $2 a head, and when you checked out, if they didn't have what you wanted at that yard, you could get a pass for one of the other Pick Your Part yards (4 in Houston eventually, 3...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

The LKQ yards around the Houston area seem to be getting more NBS/800 stuff in, the last few years. Still have a few OBS trucks in them, so I can get stuff for my boys. The '06 Denali we had, had that same cluster in it, with the 120 speedo and the trans temp gauge.

Show off your non-square project cars.

I remember getting in a Bravada at the new car show, and it had these black leather buckets that were SO comfortable, buttery soft leather too, that I really wanted to take them home.... I think these were a little ahead of their time, seems they should have sold better than they did.

1990 R2500 Suburban speedometer not working

That was my last square body Burb, but I never had that problem with it.... If you could get another gauge cluster and swap the speedometer out, that would confirm your theory.... Back in the day, this type of thing was usually a bad or loose speedometer cable. But these speedometers are...

1978 Suburban just came in to a local yard

Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the Houston LKQ's are having a 50% off sale ....might wanna be in line before 8am when they open up Saturday. I plan on doing that, at the SW Houston one.

help with a 1977 chevy 3500 crew cab long box

Your biggest issues are gonna be parking it, turning it around, tight spaces, and since it's a big block, feeding it.....pull through parking spaces will be your best buds when you gotta go somewhere. Family had several square body Burbs which are almost as big, and I currently have an OBS Crew...

Any tricks to getting your SB doors to close easier?

Yup, Dad used something similar on our Burbs. 20 doors, on old trucks, ya gotta figure something out....

Lotsa nice squares on CL out here right now!

Or if you find one like our '79 Silverado C10 Burb, you get the high back vinyl buckets and console, and decent vinyl interior on the other two seats. Another plus for the 73-80 Burbs: if you regularly haul anything in the back, that you may want the second row down for, they have metal seat...

1978 Suburban just came in to a local yard

What part of H Town? I'm near the Astrodome/NRG stadium.... LKQ SW Houston is the one I'm hitting first thing Saturday morning, if nothing comes up. It's not too far from home.... This Burb is at the Wallisville Road location which is off 610 just north of the Ship Channel bridge. U Pull And Pay...

1978 Suburban just came in to a local yard

Another yard, the LKQ on Wallisville Road in East Houston (not too far outside of Loop 610) recently put out a 1991 GMC Burb. Not too much on it by their pictures, but....they are having a 50% off sale this weekend, Saturday through Monday. Opens up at 8:00 am on the weekend.... And the U Pull...

Square body truck diecast for sale

A little change here...my buddy needed the step side for a model he's building (he has a 75 steppy so maybe he is building a model of how he wants the real truck). So he traded me this sealed plow truck kit for the Chevy Sport. This one is $30, plus shipping. Could do $50 plus shipping for both...

    1996 c1500 5.7L - crank no start

Yes, also needs a good battery and distributor cap and rotor. If the cap and rotor look like this, it's "time for a change".... This is off my '97 C3500 Vortec one ton, truck actually ran pretty decent with these parts. Ran a LOT better with a new cap, rotor and wires though! The United Motor...

Cruise In "Saturday Night at the Movies"

A Comfort Grip wheel in its natural habitat! Used pull these out of cars at the wrecking yards, 25-30 years ago. Still have a few of the horn buttons.

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

I have one of the two door Delco tune up cabinets that Dad got decades ago from the parts store we had. I'll get a picture sometime; it's in the back of the shop building and it's rather dark back there cause it's a ways from the door....
