Old school Pioneer head unit, should I or should I not???

Ok so rummaging through the stuff I've got downstairs I ended up finding a Pioneer head unit from the years before I met my wife as well as some of my old cassettes. Wasn't fully sure if it worked like it did at one time. So me being me, I hooked it up to a spare battery I had floating around...

    Kick panel Speaker Mounts

Speaker quality does have an impact on audio quality, just sayin... Do you have other speakers wired in for your fronts as well as the kick panels or just those? Also be sure to check the positive and negatives are wired correctly, you'd be shocked how many people do this thinking one side was...

speaker placement 6x9z rear cab corners ?

The panels that fit in the corners work like garbage. First make sure your belt retractors aren't bolted to the area. If they're low at the sides of the seats then you'll be good. My '77 had the retractors higher up and I had to custom make mine. They were good for a while until the bass started...

HIT THE IGN. KEY AND NOTHING

Like fast 99 mentioned, enlist the help of a friend and do some diagnostic work beginning with the starter. Have somebody bump the key and make sure you're getting signal at the start signal on the solenoid. No light = bad remote signal, good light = starter issue. If you have a remote start...

    Thornbird or Super Swampers?

My 91 K5 Blazer with a 4" suspension had some 37" TSL Radials on them. Was a daily driver and got decent life out of them before going to a set of 36" Dick Cepek Fun Country II's (FC-II) after having the original Fun Country tires with a much more aggressive tread pattern. Yeah the TSL's were...

Issue resolved - New parts on the way -- Key will not insert into the ignition switch

Love those old Grant steering wheels. Have had many of the GT spokes in pretty much all of my squares except my last two.

What have you done to your square lately??

Pulled the rear tires and cleaned up the rims a bit and shot some Winter Gray on them. Tossed the polished up centers on them. Now just have to find some beauty rings...

Who sells the best replacement gas tank

Pretty sure I've got an GM11B in mine from Spectre. Seams were a little on the elongated side when putting my new tank straps across it. But nothing a rubber mallet and a deadblow couldn't handle. Bought it off Amazon for a better price than I could find anywhere else.

    Finally found some 5x5 Turbines!!!

Appreciate the heads up, ran a mic through at least two rims for the shanks now and haven't seen any out of round just yet. There's only one with a washer that's a bit deeper than the others, but haven't measured it yet. Definitely going to need new rubber on them first and foremost. Date code...

Issue resolved - New parts on the way -- Key will not insert into the ignition switch

Sounds like the ignition switch has potentially failed. If you can't get the key to wiggle into the lock cylinder, sounds like the tumblers inside have failed or are stuck. Wouldn't have anything to do with the steering wheel being locked. Unless it was cranked hard all the way to the left or...

Hello from Vancouver, WA / Portland, OR

Welcome, and yeah that's a nice truck for sure! Love the contrast in the engine bay with the black and inner wheel wells being same color as the body.

    Vintage mag question

I'll be going through this myself at some point. Bought a vintage set of turbines as well here just recently and they didn't come with the lug nuts either. Didn't give this much thought until now, thanks! And yeah the lug nuts are there for centering the rim and the washers spread the load of...

    Fender adjustment

Paint stirrer sticks have always been my best friend when adjusting gaps. UBG is a great source for info as well, good looking out on that one!

whats every body using.. looking for a new stereo head unit

Wow, blast from the past lol. One of the best that Radio Shack had to offer! I could go on for days and days about stuff like Kraco, Jensen, Realistic, Audiovox, etc. Honestly love my Kenwood head units, best that I've had and never had an issue with any of them eating my tapes or CD's...

Questions for expierienced ultrasonic cleaner users

Everything we've used in the ultrasonic cleaners at my last place, semi-conductor company where I was the lead senior maintenance tech, were all at room temp and not suspended in the cleansing solution. Our tolerances and cross contamination issues were very very minute. Tolerances of less than...

    Reverse light options

Sorry, brake light switch. Auto-generated predictive text on the phone thinks that I'm talking about a reverse switch still. Updated original post about the switch, silly phones lol.

    Reverse light options

I've got my solution installed, can't really get any pics of it because mother nature just blasted us with about 4" of snow here in central Mass. Used a street bike brake switch like in post #24 and just have it temporarily attached to the shifter bracket and the R/1 shifter linkage. She just...

whats every body using.. looking for a new stereo head unit

Depends on what your dash setup is. Did somebody before you hack into it and get it setup for a full face single din? Or still rocking the dual knobs? If you're running the dual knobs, go with Retrosound. Yeah it's going to be pricey, but you retain the stock look, but get the functionality of...

    Finally found some 5x5 Turbines!!!

Oh yeah, I can just imagine the colors you'd be seeing lol. I'm swinging into Napa tomorrow and grabbing some bottles of it. Seen some vids of it being used and looks like it's going to be my first swing at cleaning these wheels up. Want to try and keep the original finish and just clean off a...

    Finally found some 5x5 Turbines!!!

Thanks! Just slapped them in front of the stock rally for now to get an idea of what they'll look like and whoa Appreciate the heads up on that cleaner/brightener. Not fully sure if I'm going og look and just cleaning them up, fully polished or powdercoated. Basically depends on how much...

LED exterior light conversion! not going well :(

Usually it's the rheostat that fails most of the time just because the dimmer doesn't work at all or intermittently. Not a common piece to go bad, but it can happen and if it's feeling funky it's not a bad idea to swap it out.

    Finally found some 5x5 Turbines!!!

Found a guy locally selling a set of 5x5 Turbines in a 15" rim. Picking them up tomorrow, or Saturday. Anybody have a set of these on their rigs and have you done anything to them, polished/powdercoat etc?

LED exterior light conversion! not going well :(

Go back to incandescent bulbs and #1 rule of anything light/wiring related on these trucks are......say it with me class Check your grounds! Yes that's right, always check your grounds. These trucks are notorious for having ground issues that will and have caused a lot of grunting and...

    Frame & undercarriage advise!

I also recommend Fluidfilm or NH Oil. Being a daily driver, you'll want something that isn't going to seal in moisture and cause more problems down the road. Have friends and co-workers that use Fluidfilm and NH Oil and swear by them. Fluidfilm is a once year application and the NH Oil is...

What have you done to your square lately??

Had a 63 Galaxie 4 dr sedan for a while with the 352 FE motor. Ran great but dumped it for another project. 63 and 63.5 were all the one year models like the 64 is. Pretty much nothing from either side would fit it. Another part of the main reason I parted with mine. They're definitely a...
