    Poll: Ported v Manifold Vacuum...

@Ricko1966 - question for you I just thought of on the way in. My distributor advance is hooked to manifold vacuum via a straight line - nothing else on it. What happens to manifold vacuum during WOT ? More importantly, what happens to the distributor advance ? I am thinking ( now) I need...

Chevy k10 rally wheel beauty rings

Here are factory 4X rally wheel rings - I don't think these changed any over the years. Not sure how you would confirm without seeing them.

    NP 203 Transfer case Chain HV009 GM#13433

What I have, but it is disappointing that low is not at least a 2:1 ratio. The 203 was slightly lower than a 2:1 - 2.03 ? 2.3 ?

    Fender antenna debacle

I do - in all the vehicles although more Satellite radio in the Cobalt. The 4RUNNER tape deck still works, too. :Big Laugh:

What have you done to your square lately??

Maybe. Here is this one. You can see the size of the inlet. P/N CV 774 C.

What have you done to your square lately??

Nothing major - changed the PCV. Microguard PCV184 - made in China. All that was immediately available. Weird that the intake hole is smaller than what the old one was - not sure if that makes a difference. Old one was AC Delco and probably original ...

    1974 steering column change out!

@xm20k - those clamp bolts seem to get the factory black anti rust/sealant goop. The wrench slips and the old knuckles will be crying...

    blower motor intermittent?

The ignition switch is at the lower portion of the column under the dash. It is possible that was your smoke, but I would think if it smoked it would more be around the metal cover in the bottom of the dash or the floor area. But, you never know, and I never had smoke. Any functions on...

    blower motor intermittent?

I had an intermittent blower issue develop suddenly and swore it was the blower switch. Found this burned ignition switch contact to really be the culprit. Accidentally wiggled a wire while pulling the dash is how I caught this. I have factory rear air and suspect this terminal has to do with...

How challenging is replacing brake master cylinder?

Simple enough. Take the lid off the master cylinder and make sure that the fluid level is full. Put the lid back on loose when full. Without ever touching the brake pedal, start with the right rear bleeder and let it run until clear fluid (no bubbles) appears. Tighten the bleeder, check...

    Poll: Ported v Manifold Vacuum...

Factory Q-Jet - the last carb tech revamped the vacuum to manifold. Seemed like it had a bit more oomph. He also disconnected the vacuum lines to the emissions stuff. Seemed like mileage went DOWN. Replumbed those lines ( EFE, EGR, & Thermac ) and mileage testing continues. That's...

How challenging is replacing brake master cylinder?

Above is all good info. :waytogo: Question, though - have you tried gravity bleeding the brakes ? One man job and you may find the PO was correct that it needed a bleeding session.

What have you done to your square lately??

Got froggy this Sunday morning and rehooked all the vacuum lines the last tech took off. He said the old connectors were leaky so I used them as a guide along with the schematic and individually plumbed them. I even had a vacuum check valve in my stash.:anitoof: Weird, though- now that the...

EFE, traditional Heat riser & thermac informational

Interesting ( to me ) that driving in this morning it sure seemed like the power level at 50 MPH plus was reduced compared to before. I can't for the life of me see how that would be, but that is what it felt like. I also had forgotten that weird noise that my vacuum motor makes when it is...

EFE, traditional Heat riser & thermac informational

Antique thread, but ... I just decided to - and did - rehook up my Auto Thermac. Last mechanic that tweaked the carb removed the majority of the vacuum hoses and that was one of 'em. I want to see if it by itself will help with a quicker warmup. Only 1 vacuum hose to power it - why not ? :)

    steering column High beam

That spring in your 1st pic belongs in the housing on the opposite side and is for the key buzzer. The plastic piece is indeed for the high beam. Let me see if I can find pics. This PDF is a good guide. https://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/images/d/d6/Jazzman_Steering_Rack_Rebuild.pdf

    Brake drum adjusting hole cover

I have never seen a GM backing plate with the adjusting hole. My Ram Chargers had them. I wonder if someone put a different backing plate on ? Some modern cars have little inspection plugs for lining wear on the back brakes so maybe you are on to something there. Got pics ?

    Brake drum adjusting hole cover

If the drum is rotated down the holes should line up with the star wheel. If they don't then that is weird. I can't tell as my drums still have the plugs in them.

Left turn signal crossing fasten seatbelt light

Being on a printed circuit board I can't imagine them crossing. I wonder if the lens covers are in the wrong spots. I'd also check the turn signal bulbs outside to see if one is burnt out or not all the way in. Hopefully some other folks will chime in too. :waytogo:

    wiper/turn signal switch question

I think if it will plug in and turn normally you will be OK. You should be able to pull the stalk out when the wiper switch is in the Off position without column disassembly. If the new one plugs in it will of course not be accurate as far as the Low and High speed labelling.
