    1977 K30 draining battery

Fair enough. I’ve had several of those “bad” new batteries. They all had a red lid and called Optima. (Junk) That said, given the OPs obvious lack of knowledge and lack of replying with additional info, figured good chance that maybe it isn’t truly disconnected. Examples, my 77 has camper wiring...

    Hood Decal - Any leads

You think he wanted a thin square red pinstripe? I assumed he outlined the area he wanted to install a decal. Pinstripes easy to paint? Not for most of us

The original spare on my 77, pretty sure that rim was never white. The truck had original white wheels w poverty caps.

Can anyone tell me about this step bumper? (Aftermarket?)

Wow, why? I’d just concentrate more on not running into schitt than to design and install 600lbs worth of bumpers. And maybe a trailer hitch which is also useful for towing when it’s not protecting from rear end collisions. I got a truck with a back bumper like that once. aside from being...

    1977 K30 draining battery

Ok, good points, could have a bad “new” battery. Or could have some stuff wired up that he don’t know about?

    1977 K30 draining battery

Hence the term “semi” impossible. To keep folks from saying “technically it’s possible.”

    1977 K30 draining battery

Dead in a day and disconnected? Thats semi impossible. Has to be something hooked to the battery. With a significant draw.

    This. Factory paint option.

    New or junkyard?

You’re in Texas, find some used OE fenders, imo.

    Bed floor replacement

Make yourself a dolly if you don’t have a forklift like ^^^. I used scrap decking and Amazon casters so it was only like $25 to build. But it was a HUGE benefit when redoing the 86.

    What wire under new carpet?

Guns are easy to check on a flight. Chopper not so much… That’s a hike for a squarebody! But a hell of a nice drive (except most of Indiana to the west half of MT or WY, the part that is 6900miles and 3 weeks to get thru…feels like that anyway) What parta Worshington? Right side or left side?

    1977 K30 draining battery

Well your fiance has great taste in trucks! What all these guys said ^. Plus, much easier with a multimeter as suggested. Can look it up, but iirc anything over like 40mV is considered a significant parasitic draw. The 86 has about that and battery takes about 2 months to die. The 77 and my...

    What wire under new carpet?

^ There are head units small enough to fit in the ashtray compartment. I forget Wetsounds or Kicker or both maybe. Marine audio head units. Love the truck. My dad’s first squarebody, 74 C20 454 truck with the same side pipes I put on the 77….because of that old truck….. had a built in...

Ya that would work great to get the CB antenna cable out. Sorry, I was thinking stereo wiring.

I’ll speak for the group and say no thanks needed here. Glad to help (if I have helped at some point). I can appreciate your pay it forward point of view, just make sure you’re lookin out for number 1 first! Only the best to you going forward.

So the OP don’t go out lookin to play Smokey n the Bandit with his truck, here are some more options. The double stripe up the sides of the hood are about gone on that one but can find pics of it

    What wire under new carpet?

In the bed? Except the coax (I presume you mean RCAs for amp) would have to leave the cab to get routed back into the cab. Makes no sense to do that. Plus most/all are not designed for outdoor use.

    What wire under new carpet?

I was just saying there’s an easy way to get big amp wires into the cab without going through the firewall (and under the carpet, lol). Speaker wires, amp switch wire, bass boost cable, rcas or high level input leads, all stuff that gets run under the carpet.

    Front speakers

Gots to be more specific. Your truck, from the pic likely doesn’t have the dash corner speakers and brackets. So the double center speaker is the way to go. Or kick panel speakers.
  21. Grit dog

    What wire under new carpet?

For anyone else actually thinking about this, there is a way to fish wires from the chassis up into the cab in the back cab corners. That’s where I ran a set of heavy gauge wires from under hood to inside cab for amp and powered sub. No drilling no grommets etc.

    What wire under new carpet?

    Tank selector

I’d say reliability isn’t really an issue. The only issue is there’s one type that is not made anymore from the earlier trucks. You can search and find which. There are basically 3 OE types and the selector switch is different between a couple. Again, most parts are readily available, and/or...

as much as it pains me to say this....

Tough choice, but I hope it’s the right choice for your health! Have kinda followed your work in this and I feel like it’s in running condition, correct? (Hence the insurance payment) If so, $500 is giving it away. Even not running, a straight shortbed stepside is worth considerably more...
