    1983 c30 A/C Compressor Clutch

Also, filling to 45psi on the low side is crazy to me. How much is it taking to do that? You should be filling to 2/3 the recommended fill amount of R-12 and adjust from there. Burning up to me sounds like a power/ground issue to the clutch. The clutch will usually engage hard enough that it...

    1983 c30 A/C Compressor Clutch

Make sure everything has a good ground. The clutch is powered through the low pressure switch and then grounds through a bunch of mounting points to the engine and then back to the battery. Make sure you have a good clean connection from the compressor to the engine and a good clean ground wire...

Vapor Barrier behind new door panels?

I just put the butyl tape around the perimeter of the door, cut a too big piece off the giant sheet I bought, then stuck it to the butyl tape and cut around the outside so that it fit to size. The Butyl tape and sheet of 6mm greenhouse plastic was like ~$40 total on amazon.

    Latest thinking on replacement gauges

I bought dakota digitals for mine also, mostly because I am doing a motor swap to an EFI system. You can get a full new OEM gauge cluster from LMC for about half the cost of digital gauges and would only need to swap the coolant temp switch and oil pressure switch to sensors to make a full...

Anyone live in Portland, OR have a shop they like? Need to pass emissions…

Look in the glove box for the SPID sheet. It would also have a tag on the driver door frame with the GVW rating or inside the glove box. My door tags are gone, but I have the 8600GVW tag in the glove box. The rest of the story for the truck makes me think it is likely a California emissions...

Anyone live in Portland, OR have a shop they like? Need to pass emissions…

@Catbox runs his through DEQ in Portland and has a 454. You should be fine with dual exhaust, but would need to add in the correct federal approved cats. If it is mechanically sound, you should have no issues passing with a properly tuned carb as long as the other components are all correct. I'm...

    Replacement Seat Opinions

I'm using 03-07 Silverado 40/20/40 split bench seat set. I found a set of full power seats in Gray leather for $60 locally. Similar to these but in better condition and gray. The center console is hard mounted, non adjustable, and the cup holders just clear the NP205 shifter...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

That should all fit correctly then. The symptoms make me think you assembled something wrong and therefore didn't have the clearance you should have had. It's hard to explain with words that you need to "look for things that don't look right". Are you sure that you: 1. Put a pilot bushing in...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

The LUK slave cylinder is the right one. LUK made the rebranded AC Delco clutch and slave cylinder parts and they are the exact same. The flywheel size and face fitment is the same across all Mark IV though Gen VI BBC, so that shouldn't be the issue either. What bellhousing did you use? Did you...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

Do you have a 90's 454 in it? The flywheel for a Mark IV will be very different than one for a Gen V or Gen VI 454. Gen V and Gen VI are both one piece main seal, but have different flywheel weights on them... so that would also be a problem.

What have you done to your square lately??

You don't have to accept that. You can get it appraised as well instead of whatever nonsense bluebook gives out. Also, if your mother owned it outright and purchased it in California, she likely already paid the sales tax on it when she purchased it in California. According to the Washington...

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

replace 1 qt of oil with one can of seafoam, run it for an hour or so or go drive it ~100 miles and then immediately do and oil change and filter change. Cut the filter apart and you'll see just how much crap it sucked up. If I'm doing an engine that hasn't been done before I will usually then...

No power at some locations in fuse block

Either one of the fusible links from the starter is blown, you forgot to hook one of the three wires up, or there is a break in the line somewhere. The fuse block gets all of it's power entirely from the smaller 12 Ga wires that connect to the starter with fusible links in between. It is common...

Looks like bad news for me

Also... this is NOT a fuse. I have seen these metal auto resetting circuit breakers go bad in such a way that they will show continuity when unplugged, but the second ANY amount of current goes through it, it pops. The way they work is that there is a small strip of metal between two contacts...

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

This was my thought as well. I've never seen anyone even try to claim that seafoam does any kind of stabilization of the fuel. It works great as a fuel system cleaner and I've used it to clean out the inside of engines by slowly pouring it into the intake or adding a small amount to the engine...

Looks like bad news for me

After re-reading this.... you don't have a fuse in there. The metal "fuse" is a self resetting circuit breaker. I would go buy a new one and see if that fixes your problem. If it doesn't, then check for voltage at the lock switch. There should be three pins, power comes in on the center pin and...

Looks like bad news for me

I'm confused by what you are saying? With the fuse pulled... you will have 12v on the supply side(left) and 0v on the line to the door locks(right). The fuse is the connecting piece that moves the power from the left pin to the right. If you have the fuse installed, and no power going from the...

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

I'd go broke... My K25 has a rebuilt 350 in it with the original quadrajet. I've bumped the compression to 9:1 and have a mild Summit RV cam(K1102). It gets regular E10 87 octane. 91 Octane Ethanol free is stupid expensive. I don't even put it in the boat early in the year when I know I'll be...

Chevy 14 bolt - gov bomb locker???

If it has the 4 pins, but both wheel spin in the same direction when you have it lifted up, then someone probably put in a locker. You can't put in the "lunchbox lockers" if it originally had the locking differential with the 3 pins. I replaced my spider gears with a Yukon Grizzly locker quite a...

Failed smog on 1988 with 350 TBI

Unfortunately you have to swap the entirety of the emissions controls from whatever it is. So he would likely have to swap in a flex fuel system from a 2004 or later equivalent Tahoe/Burb. That would probably require engine/trans/fuel line and tank mods/entire exhaust from manifolds to cats from...

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

An 80's-90's vehicle with no way to tell exact ethanol percentage, low compression, and questionable fuel/timing control to begin with is NOT going to do well on E85. There is no inherent benefit to the fuel over standard gasoline other than the things it lets you do to the tuning because of...

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

As I said over in the gas prices thread.... I run E85 in my 2011 Suburban whenever I can. The biggest issue here is that there are only four stations in the entire state of Oregon that sell it. If I have to tow anything south though, it is a huge money saver to be able to run E85 and the truck...

Odd "Misfire"? on 2013 Yukon Denali

Interesting. Seems very similar to the Gwatney Performance VVT1 cam, which was also on my radar for a possible swap. https://gwatneyperformance.com/gpi-low-lift-vvt-ls-truck-camshaft-6-2l/?srsltid=AfmBOooQ7YiLRUskPAbvSOsMZcmgW-mtw_NLOfdMv34mLMX6-nh7aXYR
