Cracks in transfer case
The TH400 and SM465 share the same large output shaft. The TH350 is smaller and while you are rebuilding your case that would be an excellent time to swap the input planetary for use on the TH400. The one that he used for an example had the stove-bolt style cannister that was actually bolted to the water outlet on the front of the engine. I have never noticed that before but again the 283 replaced the 265 in 1956 as far as what I've read. The 265 had a very short run. The older folks...- Strick

Tire size or possible lift recommendations for the 79’ K30

Is your truck painted? Primer hides alot of damage/imperfections that shiny & reflective paint won't dismiss. Interior stuff isn't cheap & neither is body & paint. I can't believe that a car would be in a non-running condition due to a $25 ignition coil & 20 minute fix. If I made the trade...- Strick

Everyone gets excited to pull the pan on a 3970010 & see the four-bolt caps in the center. Having said, the teenage version of me was helping my bud build a 350 with 041 heads & Melling cam. 14 Bolt 10.5" Rear Axle -FOUND-
We had a 79 C30 car hauler that the tube broke out of the center section. Makes for a bad day for certain. I understand wanting a direct swap for the ease of the job too. HS -

I used an '04 Savana with dual piston calipers on my '55 6100. I had to relocate the spring & shock perches but I love the added track width that evens the front & rear. -

Welcome from NC. I just went thru idle issues with an 87 V10. CTS & pigtail, thermostat, IAC, MAP & checked all vacuum. Ran rich & idled irradic. Access DLC & 12 code was all it listed. I replaced the PCM & cured the issue. Maybe this info will help. HS- Strick
