What have you done to your square lately??

Absolutely not. Those body mounts are just riveted on, you need to be under the frame rails. Either get the exhaust redone or don't use a lift and just use jackstands

I Spy A Cool GM Truck

I'm not much for newer stuff but this Yukon just struck me yesterday leaving the grocery store, it just sat RIGHT. I normally don't like grays either but I loved the color too

Just from the 2 pictures of the Nova and the 1 pic of the truck, that's a hard pass for me. Unless you just absolutely salivate over Novas, I'd walk. I'm a truck guy though, so they don't appeal to me. That said, primer hides a multitude of sins so that's turn off #1. No interior? Even getting...

How well should compression hold the truck?

I would definitely fix the e-brake ASAP, it's cheap and simple. In the meantime, definitely use wheel chocks. Right before we moved into our new house when I was 7, our neighbor across the street had a very steep driveway and at the time had a Geo Tracker that the parking brake didn't work. One...

    New daily driver

Dang man, that's a bummer. It's hard to move stuff right now in general it feels like, let alone a hurt vehicle. I can't even seem to get reasonable offers on parts I'm selling lately

Question for those with QA1 front end

You shouldn't have to, didn't have to for OE stuff and the QA1 stuff isn't that different, placement wise, vs the OE. The OE inner itself doesn't come down that low, the little dust skirt filled the gap

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

You're not wrong. So many people hyper focus on one detail that they've been told is the best and they have to have that particular thing without considering everything else. Like the guys that come around asking "What's the best place to get the biggest cam I can put in my 5.3 so it chops...

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

Interesting take. I've heard all my life that what ya want is a 4-bolt main block but never looked into it more than that. I never even knew if the bolts were splayed or not. Splaying a 2-bolt block definitely makes more sense. Just FYI, all LS engines are 6-bolt mains cuz of the deep skirted...

Container based shop: 2 post lift placement advice?

The table is a good idea. Maybe even attach/hinge it to the container so when not in use it can be tucked out of the way and less likely to have stuff/dirt/crap pile up on it

    Dipstick for SBC

Realistically, as long as it goes far enough in the pan without interfering with the crank, you can always dump in however much oil you need (I assume 5-6qts) so it's known to be correct and then scribe the dipstick.

    NO!

What did you fix on your daily, today?

Changed the oil on Friday, noticed a hot oil smell over the weekend. No drips, filter body's not wet, drain plug only has a slight weep, nothing on the y-pipe but it's a pretty intense smell. Was too busy to put much time into it this weekend and since it wasn't dripping on the ground, I wasn't...

Container based shop: 2 post lift placement advice?

Same here, I'll hone in on something and stress and wayyy overthink it for a while, I get it. If a 2-post is reasonably affordable for ya, that really is the all around best option. I'm only in my mid-30s but now that I've had access to our 2-post at work for a few years, I hate crawling around...

Container based shop: 2 post lift placement advice?

Was gonna say the same thing. I have 12" tall cribbing for working under vehicles but keeping the wheels on them. It's a huge PITA/can be sketchy even getting stuff up that high, let alone 4ft in the air. No way I'd try that with a jack, you'd need the lift just to place it on those stands lol
