    from what I understand, point dwell is the measurement of how long the points stay closed between opening....increasing the gap can slightly decrease the dwell and vice versa. The condensor (which is effectively a capacitor) was put in with the points to reduce the radio interference.

    It might lose a little compression on those 2 cylinders at first, until everything settles in and maybe a little carbon buildup forms in the depressions. With that much ick in the cylinders I'd also confirm the valves are OK and moving freely.

    Technically the battery itself could have some internal damage and draining between the cells - I have seen that happen especially if it gets bounced around or handled roughly. Normally you wouldn't even be able to get it to take a charge in that circumstance though.

    Actually that procedure needs a slight modification. When you jumper the A/B for a minute, disconnect the IAC connector before turning the key off. Otherwise the computer re-opens the IAC on key-off to allow easier starting.
