    Wiring mystery

That was my next question… Almost looks like maybe someone routed the wires through the cowl

    Ignition Assistance Needed

^^^^ what these guys said Only other possibility is if it’s a loose wobbly tilt column pushing up on the shifter is allowing the ignition switch rod to push the ignition switch just a little farther so it starts

    Wiring mystery

Should have 2 wires to the fuse box bulkhead, they power two different circuits in the cab. And at least one coming from the starter, I don’t think it matters which side of the junction block it gets connected to

    Wiring mystery

The two wires on the right should go to the bulkhead (fuse box) The left side should be connected to the starter or alternator (or both can’t remember what my stock harness looked like exactly) And each of the two wires going to the bulkhead also have fusible links

    Wiring mystery

you’re missing the feed wires to the junction block

    4l60E flush

The “in” or return line from the cooler doesn’t have suction to pick up the clean fluid. The fluid in the return line just drains into the transmission as it’s pushed by the fluid that’s pumped to the cooler in the feed line. Drop the pan Replace filter Clean and inspect pan Replace pan...

    Steering box

Agree with @Ricko1966 and @73 cheySuper … These boxes aren’t too terrible to rebuild, there’s a few things that take some patience but nothing too difficult. I’ve heard too many horror stories about the replacement remanufactured units, don’t really know anything about the aftermarket stuff...

    Reverse rotation water pump

Have you considered sourcing a complete serpentine set up from a GMT400 or GMT800 instead of spending all that cash on a March setup? It would make all the parts readily available at parts houses and/or junkyards...

1984 K10 LS Swap - Lots of Little Problems

It's a hard habit to learn, I get excited and forget to snap pictures sometimes too. A big reason I started taking pictures while working is I use them for my memory. I've referred back to my photo log countless times to look for how things were assembled before I put hands on it. They've...

    SBC Build Questions

Vortec heads are a decent bang for the buck, or at least they were 25 years ago when you could order a built pair from a GM dealership for less than any of the HO aftermarket units. If you don’t already have a set of heads, an aftermarket set that will allow you to keep the stock intake etc...

Cutting hole in floor to replace fuel sender

I’m with @xm20k on this one…. I’ll add rusted out or clapped out shitbox to the racecar or rock crawler statement

    Fuse and ground block connectors

I'm not sure where they would be in a GMT400, We had a few GMT400 vortec complete harnesses and a SB Suburban interior harness laying around when I built my truck. I was able to rob bits and pieces off as I went along, they saved me a fortune in wire expense since I added so many electronic...

    LS3 6.2 Engine Fuel Lines

I have a slightly different setup (no in line filter/regulator) but I ran Earl's Vaporguard EFI rated soft line for feed and return all the way from the rail to the tank switch valve.

    Fuse and ground block connectors

The connectors for that ground you picture are oddball, I had a hard time finding any of them. I managed to cut one out of an old SB wiring harness and IIRC I cut one out of a GMT400 harness.

Has anyone done an L31 Vortec swap?

Make it run like a Stone Age 350… All the sensors are for the ECM and fuel injection, not needed for carbureted engines L31 for the most part is just a roller SBC, engine mounts the same, bell housing same, and can use the same exhaust manifolds IIRC. (Perhaps not manifolds from a 305 though...

^^^^ this Once the glue is burned out of the factory ones just match the cap diameter and width of the joint and use the included clips to secure them.

Traction aid in the front axle or not?

Leave the front open…. I’m not opposed to putting a locking differential in the front but it doesn’t seem like you need one for your intended use. I daily drove my K10 with an open front for 12 years in harsh California winters with no issues to speak of. For more serious off roading I would...

    Tire machine recommendations

lol…. I’ve about worn the KMC logo off of a few of the bead lock rings and a few of the tires I just replaced had scabs of the corded carcass showing on the sidewall. I would definitely destroy RWL’s

Was showing off the blue mountains on my coors can! I do like RWL but on the rock crawler they would just get messed up

Lol… Perhaps 90% of the work with mounting beadlocks is torquing the ring down. Not difficult but tedious and no safety toe required!
