    rough running....backfiring 350

Check firing order especially make sure 5 and 7 aren't crossed. Most back fires are ignition.

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

We were doing long rods in the 80's you used Oldsmobile rods because no one could afford aftermarket rods back then. The price of good heads, rods and stroker cranks have come down so much in relationship to people's earnings.

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Didn't confuse me. A lot of people think of Oil Pumps first thing when people say mellings, not camshafts. Oops,I guess you did confuse me,you went Melling for Cam and Pump @ChuckN wants to know what pump you are using. Sweet cam pick. It looks like one to throw in the mix on a build I'm into.

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

Bearing speed. If you measure/calculate the circumference of a crank journal. That is the distance that bearing is traveling in one revolution. Say you have a journal that measures 4" circumference and one that measures 3", in 10 revolutions your 4" the bearing travels 40" your 3" only travels...

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

^^Your small journal cranks are going to have much less bearing speed. Look how much less distance a small journal bearing has to travel vs . A large journal multiply that times however many thousands of times per minute.its huge and the more rpm the bigger the spread.

Is your pedal too hard? or lots of travel?

NO BRAKE PRESSURE AFTER ALMOST FULL SYSTEM REPLACEMENT!!

What do you mean didn't have booster before.non power brake converted to power brake, you have to relocate the pushrod on the brake pedal. Different pedal ratio, non power vs. Power brakes.

NO BRAKE PRESSURE AFTER ALMOST FULL SYSTEM REPLACEMENT!!

Hard pedal would be an indication of no power brakes not low pedal or soft pedal. Did the brakes bleed correctly? Was the truck originally equipped with power brakes.Did you check clearance between master cylinder and booster pushrod(.020). If yes to all three,my first assumption would be rear...

    Catalytic Converter

You can test them in several ways and you'd need to use 2 to tests 1 for pressure and 1 for temperature. But if you aren't having a problem, let sleeping dogs lie. You can test for vacuum drop,or inlet back pressure, with a vacuum gauge/fuel pressure tester. Check inlet vs. Outlet temps with a non...

    700R4 to Saginaw 3-Speed Swap

Was reading some of your previous posts. There was more than 1 saginaw 3 speed and they had different gear spreads and gear ratios. I know for sure there were 3 I think there maybe 4. So you might compare what gearing you have now to what the factory offered for gear ratio with your engine and...

    Alignment and tire pressure question

Learn to chalk your tires. I've done beads and weights. I personally think weights are better. And I think most of the discrepancy on ride quality is how the lift was achieved and who's springs you are running.

'83 Scottsdale to '89 suburban frame interchange?

They are not interchangeable directly. I'm sure with enough work you could make it happen but not a simple swap.

    87 v3500 6.2 engine replacement

Big block,292 I6,Cummins. All would be big torque low rpm which is what that truck is already set up for. I'd be in the 454 or 292 camp. A turbo on the 292 would be awesome. Some other slightly more difficult swaps would be Big Caddy,Olds,Pontiac,Buick. The Olds ,BBC,and 292. could be a bolt in...

    Need real-world exhaust advise

I'd rather see a real world test below 3500 rpm long tubes with 2.5" duals vs. mid length headers with 3" duals at rpms below 3500, the speeds most of these will be driven at the majority of the time. You can also make more power with a bigger cam,and a single plane, but not more power where...

    K10 Evaporator Box

If not concerned about being 100 percent original. I'd cut a patch out of gutter flashing for inside the box smear it with jb weld. Put the patch in the box stick the broken parts to the patch and secure with some poprivets
