Does this head/rocker setup need guide plates?

I always check the valve train geometry snd clearance when I change anything. Milled head, different ratio rockers, bigger cam, roller rockers etc. Also do not run guide plates and self aligning rockers. Most guys don't but you are possibly leaving horsepower on the table or run the risk of...

If you put factory self aligning rockers back on it,you will probably be okay. Are you roller cam or flat tappet? If roller are you O.E roller or retro roller?

Does this head/rocker setup need guide plates?

I think you have to hog the holes out and use guide plates.,Hogging the holes is probably also dependant on how much cam you have, but I'm pretty sure with any lift and possibly just with the geometry change with the rockers your pushrods will rub and bind on the head. Did you check rocker...

Early stuff was proprietary GM had cccs,Ford had EEC then in 1988 California said hey we need to standardize this so any garage can work on anything. So OBD1 was officially born in California for the 1991 model year. Then the rest of the United States said hey that was a good idea and OBD2 was...

What new tools have you got lately?

If you want to save some bucks, bolt the transmission to your engine stand by the engine mounting bolts, pull your pan, valve body etc. Use a steel plate cut out like a pan to bolt to the transmission pan rail. Bolt the plate upright to the engine stand. Edit. Oh fck even easier.

Okay I got it now,if it was an SS car that would make a big difference to me. But as @Grit dog said it's easier to find a decent square than a decent Nova. Many years you can't tell an SS by VIN,you can tell if it was a V8 though. Look for a 12 bolt rearend, multi leaf springs, disc brakes,Louvers...

I have no idea how that got double posted. I requested a mod close the other one. A piece of wood and drill bits isn't going to do it. That was actually my first thought. I do have access to a 3d printer, but know absolutely nothing about using one.

195 is not to hot and definitely worth a try. You need to get wiring schematic and find out why your check engine light doesn't work. Have you checked the bulb?

How well should compression hold the truck?

It depends on the gearing, the compression ratio, and the degree of the angle as to whether or not the engine will hold a vehicle in gear.
