350 Engine extreme backfiring please advice

Check the ignition out. Was someone messing with timing, spark plugs or wires etc. And for your future knowledge 1987s in the United States were nit carbureted,so you might dial your comparison of your truck to American spec trucks a year or so,so you don't get wrong parts or advise. Have a great...

    Need real-world exhaust advise

You know long tube's make more low end,and too large of exhaust diameter also doesn't give best low end. The stuff you picked would be better on a 600hp car for midrange and top end power. If you knew already sorry.

What new tools have you got lately?

Had one at work for everyoneI liked it so much I bought one of my own. I have the top one. I think you could make the bottom one easy with a short step stool. Shorten the locking bar and front legs so the front legs are straight up and down, parallel to the tire, instead of at an angle. Then...

    Ignition problems

You have a dirty connection at the battery, starter,a bad battery cable,a dead battery or bad battery. You aren't able to provide enough amperage, you are overloading a bad connection forcing it to go open.

    Best spring coil compressor?

That's only 1/2 the story. Then you stand the strut up with everything, spring, top cap, etc. Put a spare tire over the whole mess and have 2 coworkers push down on the tire for a second or 2 while you zip the nut back on,through the hub hole on the wheel.

    Best spring coil compressor?

I think next time I'll use tie downs(cautiously) As for struts I won't tell you how we sometimes did them at work to beat flat rate time.(whoa!!!!,just occurred to me bind STRUT SPRINGS at installed ride height) then remove the strut cap,if it works, even better than our old cheater method.

    Best spring coil compressor?

These were morosso trick springs in a 66 Chevelle longer softer than factory for better weight transfer. Too long to slip in and out easily. So I figured bind the spring at installed height and it would come out easier. Thought someone else might benefit, not everybody, but somebody. I thought it...

1987 V10 with 1974 engine- need TBI Help

Codes should stay stored until battery is disconnected or designated number of drives or key cycles with no fault. I do not remember the number but it's high like 50ish. If it's a hard code it will be there until the battery is disconnected and come back on the next drive. Soft codes certain...

    Best spring coil compressor?

Late to the party, but thought of this little trick today for situations like this. So writing it down for someone that might read it in the future. Loop some short lengths of chain through the spring and bolt the ends of the chain together,to hold the spring compressed at ride height. Then when...

    Rochester Q-Jet running rich

A 3 port bleeds the pressure back to the tank unless the pump port or the return line is clogged. I suppose that wouldn't be hard to check pull the return line put on a fresh piece and see if you can blow through the line. Put a piece of line on the pump return port put the other end in a bottle...

    Rochester Q-Jet running rich

You don't use mixture screws to correct puffs of black smoke. The mixture screws are to set idle mixture. Adjust them by the book and don't use them as band aids for other problems you'll just create new problems. Do you have a 3 port fuel pump or a 2 port? A 2 port could cause the problem you...

    Wood-fired Square

Mother earth news did the same thing,I read about it in the 80s,not sure if this is a reprint, but here's one take on it https://www.motherearthnews.com/sustainable-living/green-transportation/wood-gas-truck-zmaz81mjzraw/

Socket organizer need help for homemade

I want it to fit snug in a specific enclosure, with enough of the correct size holes in the specific order I want them in. I've made plaster molds of car parts in the past to duplicate them. You take a box,wax the inside, pour plaster in,push the waxed part you are moulding into the plaster and...

Socket organizer need help for homemade

Okay you guys have given me some ideas, and I appreciate it. I was hoping there was an easy button something to pour in,like when you make a plaster mold of something. I'm going to see what I can do with the 3d printer.

Does this head/rocker setup need guide plates?

I would think so,but if it were mine I'd check rocker geometry, might be over your head( no insult intended),I didn't know about it until I got a job where they taught me,so it's easy for me .

Does this head/rocker setup need guide plates?

I use the half lift method because it's what I learned at work in the 80s it doesn't seem to be the preferred method anymore people are using contact pattern. Anyway if you look at a see saw.it has the very most up and down movement on either side of just level. It swings in an arc so as it...
