Stepside Fender to Bed Seam Sealant

I would pre paint the contact area and then assemble it for painting. You could mask the edge of the seam sealed area before assembly and swipe it with your finger or use a tool to smooth it out. Then just pull off the tape and you should have a nice clean joint

    Crazy question

Cut the bolts off of the bed, slide it back and replace the panel. about $300 total with new hardware. Not a big job. One person if you have an engine crane. I agree with the rodent pee speculation for the rust out. Foam and bondo won't last long. My father always said "If you're going to do a...

    TH350 to 700R4 Swap

I have that 350/700 setup in my '81 with 3.90 gears and i consider it a very comfortable setup. Taller gears are going to struggle in lockup, particularly with a smaller(305) engine IMHO

Another cam thread... But maybe not the usual.

You don't need big heads for a low rpm torque motor. Find a 400sbc and rebuild it with an rv cam, long tube hedders and a performance intake. Top it off with a qjet and you will have a reliable torque monster without having to step up to a big block. I have this setup in my '72 k5 and it is very...

    84' GMC 350 motor rebuild

RV cam, long tube hedders, and an aluminum intake on a stock build should work just fine. No vortec.

    2/4 drop level issue

I've got the wood/drop combo. Had to cut the bed support away. Not a structural issue.

    Best Cordless Tools?

there are battery adapters available to use any battery with any tool. i saw it on a youtube video a while back. it's an option if you have a lot of good older 18 volt tools and want to use new 20 volt technology.

    Suburban Project- Need Help!

i have to believe that once the engine is on a stand and the heads and pan are off a little bumping of the pistons with a wood block and light hammer will convince the pistons to release. on another engine story, in the early years of drag racing, Don garlits would tow his engine less dragster...

Inline fuse in place of fusible link @ junction block pops 40amp fuses

when working under the hood of my k5 for any length of time i remove the tires and let it down till the brakes almost touch the ground. much better that way.

    Suburban Project- Need Help!

i would have the original engine rebuilt with some type of RV cam, add an intake and hedders if CA allows that. prices in PA for that entire package would be around $2,500 total. you end up with a fresh reliable engine that makes more torque than you started with.

    Rust repair questions

i would start with the rocker and inner rocker. now you have the perimiter for the floor pan and put the support in last. i'm lot a bodyman but i have done a few using this sequence with good success. put the corner in last.

    Aftermarket bed issues

i would remove the bed and remove the bulkhead to see where contact is being made. probably just trim some sheetmetal or elongate a few holes to get the desired width

Piston rings new generator will not seat, burns too much oil

no need to run 10/30 unless you have startups in the 30 degree range or less. run 30w when you get a new genny.

Heated & Cooled power leather seats

nice job. i did the same thing using lexus rx350 seats in my '81 c10. biggest challenge is to get them low enough with the crazy floor pan ups and downs. tilt wheel helps. comfortable seating is high on my list of priorities as well as yours.

Questions about snow plows and mounts.

i would look for a used squarebody plow truck with a good working plow and move the plow frame over to your truck. not a lot of work. dont forget to add timbrin overload bump stops to replace the stock ones. i have been doing exactly what you intend to do for 17 years with a used $300 meyer...
