    Factory Engine Color???

    That should do nicely

    Factory Engine Color???

Lisa said the same thing… I was leaning more Mopar SubLime, but, Panther Pink “could” work…

    Factory Engine Color???

And just to jump start a dead horse and beat him back into submission… What engine/transmission color goes best with a dark purple truck?

    1979 454 C10, Factory Air

Go as factory fitting as you can. Currently switching an 85 with V-belts for a 92 serpentine belt system. Switches the location of the compressor to the passenger side, alternator to the driver side. Had to cut the 85’s hoses with a sawzall, fittings just twisted the lines trying to remove them...

Driving lamps/Fog lights? Anyone running them on their c10?

Guess I know what foglights to shop for… Ralph had a set of under bumper, glass with failing amber inner coating. I’ll be using those oval led type instead. Putting the set off the K1500 parts roach on the back as reverse lights. They mount to a bracket on the receiver hitch… Have a bolts to the...

    Battery to body ground

My truck was most likely done that way to help with the CB added by the original owner. Since I have an analog CB and 102” stainless whip antenna, spring mounted to a stake pocket…? I’m keeping the “extra” ground straps to help with RFI and SWR issues, per the r/cbradios group. Even adding a...

Tire size or possible lift recommendations for the 79’ K30

Oof, those U-bolts and bases look like gmt400 rot bucket specials. Before you do ANYTHING else, get U-bolts that go around the axle tube, pointing UP, and a proper top plate/saddle, whatever it is actually called. Look on gmt400 forum for what those spring/bolt plates cause, not fun… Maybe HWB...

Tire size or possible lift recommendations for the 79’ K30

If you can find a set, 33-10.5 is just about the perfect tire. I have an -OLD- set of Super Swamper TSL 15” radials, yeah, they actually made those a long time ago. I keep them around for mock up, body shop use, and as jack stands. 2 on Ford 5 on 5.5, 2 on GM 6 lug steelies. Need these for my...

    Battery to body ground

My 85 seems to have a few factory style extra ground straps… Frame to passenger rear cab mount area. Cab to bed header panel. Fuel filler screw to bed trim screw. Back bumper to frame rail. Once I swap in the 350, will add an extra alternator bracket to frame ground, either 4g or preferably...

    Sealing Bed Wood

Has kept our “new” cattle barn intact since the 1920s… The untreated log barn lasted from the 1830s until it was put to the torch after the “new” barn replaced it. House sills, hand squared by a broadaxe heart poplar, are termite/rot free after 186 years… Rafters are oil cured white oak, tin...

    Swapping my 4.3 v6 for a 350 v8

Nothing “fun” about turning 2 roached beaters into 1 functional truck… It is so far beyond “fun” that it is hard to describe… Also doing a flathead 6/3 on the floor/4.78s to 350/SM465 (with pto)/8.8 with 3.55s swap in a 40s Dodge truck I’ve had for way too long in project status… And in the...

Lisa would boil me alive if I cured parts in the house…

    Paint search

Guess I’d best break out my stencils and a paint marker, see if it would work… Have a junk C60 I can practice on…

    Paint search

But if he runs “Nordic” he’ll have to Viking it out… ;) Actually… fender badges off a 50s/60s Chevy “Viking” (medium duty, think C60 in SB speak) and some knotwork pinstriping at the color break… Damn…

    1985 4.3

Huh, the 4.3 in our 85 has 300k+ on it, finally gave up the ghost. Everything was stone stock until 2011, when it got its first ever tune up… Popped the oil filler cap with the truck running, enough blowby to make a steam engine look emissions friendly… Intake manifold is literally rotten...

    Paint search

Teal Pearl or Cobalt Pearl, goes with any secondary or as a solid… I like The Spray Source, even just for color searches. And I actually have a 49 Dodge like the first 2 shown here, in Cub Cadet Beige/Cobalt Pearl… Pattern was actually 1951 or 1952 only “Spring Special”. Ralph (85 C10 swb)...

    Flipped axle Caltracs?

Mine says 919# capacity on the camper label. 3+1 1.5” thick pack, factory 10 bolt axle, even with load assist shocks it dropped a good 7-8 inches with the flip kit and shock relocators. Spring and shackle bushings replaced with Energy Suspension red bushings, lots of their proprietery grease. I...

    carb connections...vacuum booster connection

Well, Ralph being an 85 that had esc and boatload of now long since fell off vacuum “towers”… I’ll look Monday or Tuesday. Have to swap carb/swingarm off a “locked up tighter than a convent gate” 800 Drifter onto 1 with a cracked swingarm and grenaded carb… Memphis area roads suck.

    Part Choice-Brake System

Oh, I’ve seen it… Ralph is nearly stone stock, right down to the literally crumbling cast iron Qjet 85/86 -ONLY- 4.3L V6 intake manifold… Can’t wait to 350 swap him, soooo much easier to find parts…

    carb connections...vacuum booster connection

Wait, there is an inline fuel filter on the frame rail?!? Oh ffs…

    Part Choice-Brake System

I thought that was the 1 way valve… Factory issued in Ralph, so I guess 41 years is beyond its rated service life…

    It did… Parts truck now.

Dead after new new alternator belt

And DO NOT try to replace with an inline fuse… A really nice metallic rootbeer with white roof 1968 C20 got sent to the scrappers over that. Uncle’s “mechanic friend” replaced a starter fusible link with a fuse… Toasted trucks don’t smell very good…

Odd cable/control going to foot feed.

Will likely add it to my gmt400 K3500 c&c dually for heavy winching. Selective cutting hardwoods that require winching to retrieve logs for milling on the farm.
