Good dishwasher in garage
You can use it to clean big stuff easy. And you won't get in trouble for using the one in the kitchen. It doesn't even just have to be used for automotive stuff. Anything that needs to be cleaned that fits can be put in there. -

Cutting hole in floor to replace fuel sender
I dropped the tank on our 1995 Sub. Not a difficult project and the 40 gallon tank was damn near full when it crapped out. So we pumped out as much as we had gas cans for. ATV jack for the win! Just look at all that nice rust free metal. Cleaned the filth off the top of the tank before...- Catbox

I would have liked to have kept this one. But we just had the second kid and needed the $2000 I sold it for back in 2005. Now in the same condition it is a $10k driver. I bought it for $1400 from a buddy that built it for his friend. It is a 1972 Rally Nova that was pulled from the berry bushes...- Catbox

Paul's truck is the 1972 that is a simple 1/2 ton and easy to load. Mine is the 1979 3/4 ton and also simple to load. Max had his 1984 Sub with a 4 inch lift and rides on 35's, lots of smaller stuff went inside of it. Now Jakes truck, it has a 6 inch lift and rolls on 37's, we made the youngster... -

They all see the guys running the 6L in drag cars on the interwebs. What they don't pay any attention too is the massive amount of money they put into that turbo system installed in the engine bay all run by the fancy EFI required to make it all happen. We moved a bunch of my sons large items out of storage and into his new house. Truck Gang stuff. What is fun is we just parked randomly. Instead it looks like we organized ourselves in order of height. -

A VW club member was selling her late husbands crewcab dualie he used to haul race cars with. It was fully decked out and had a mild built 454 in it. Another member that likes to "know everything" told me he would yank that big block and put a LS6.0 into it as it would make more power.....- Catbox

L31 vs TBI 454 Swap
The heads of the GenV big blocks are what suck azz. Swap it in and run it. If you want more power later on, find a set of the Gen 6 heads and plop them on. More power all around. My son just installed a Gen6 into his Suburban and it sounds pretty good so far. The internets have tested the Gen6...- Catbox

The boy replaced my harmonic balancer a week or so ago. He tried to time it a couple years ago and we found that the outer ring had slipped. Then somebody lost the new balancer for quite a while until I found it in his storage unit in a random box. No wonder it was down on power, it was way to... -

Show your daily driver
That is just a VW doing VW things.... Here the pin came out of the fuel pump, but it still functioned well enough I was able to drive it the 20 miles home in traffic. On the new pump, I peened that pin in place and epoxied over both sides as well for good measure. Broke down in downtown...- Catbox

Old school hub caps
You could always buy a full set of the 2wd ones and then cut the centers out for the front. @Maxwellvis did this for his Suburban with some GMT800 stuff to go on the Hummer wheels he has on it currently. Looks correct enough for 98.74% of the people in the world.- Catbox

How difficult is a throttle body swap?
My son has done several of them. He is now 23. He first rebuilt the one on our 1995 Suburban and then he found a second one and did some of the hop up stuff to it. That is the one on the Sub now. I would say if you have any mechanical aptitude, you should be good.- Catbox

Bone stock 85 305 upgrade
Find a L-31 Vortec engine. The short block will be a roller and that is what you want. This is where we find them, both the blue and white Suburban were complete in the morning when we showed up. What did you fix on your daily, today?
I do not envy you guys on the east side of the country. My 1995 Suburban shows zero rust anywhere on it. The chassis still has black paint on it when I rub the dirt off.
