    Non-stop horn honking

It was because the wheel was turned, not because anything was mechanically wrong or installed upside down. Now, I just need to figure out how to stop the horn from honking when I hook the battery back up.

    Non-stop horn honking

So, I apparently need high caliber brains to fix this. I went to put the steering wheel back on, after trying to clock it, and I noticed that the steering wheel was on upside down, but because the wheels were turned slightly out. So I started the truck, straightened them all without incident...

    Steering Wheel Cleaning

What I have done so far is spray it down with Dawn Power wash, let it soak, spray some more and then use a red scrubbing pad to scrub it down. Did that twice. I not is not sticky, but has a whiteish film. I am contemplating trying interior trim detailer. Or I might do what the paint guy...

    Steering Wheel Cleaning

I have a '78 C10 Silverado with an original steering wheel. It has started doing the sticky thing. I have watched some YouTube videos about cleaning it up, and using a flexible paint (Like SEM) to repaint it and seal it. I was told by an auto pant shop that I also needed to use the SEM sealer...

    Gas Gauge issue

Thank you. I did restore, but only for my satisfaction and pride. I will fill her up, take an odometer and run her dry, take an odometer and then fill up again and repeat. Of course, the sending unit I bought, although from Summit, is just Chinese junk. Old one was shot, and better quality...

    Gas Gauge issue

Hello, after a year............ Truck is short bed. The 8.5 gal pegged it at full. I have clocked the mileage around town from fill up to fill up and getting about 11-12mpg I have thought about the run her till she is empty with a can of gas, need to do that. When I filled it up last time, it...

Desperately look for this trim piece

Yeah, I would definitely prefer a nice OE one, but all the ones I find are in as bad a condition as mine and cracking, cracked or broken. I didn't know if I would like the "replacement", but it looks good and gives back that dressed up hood look.

Desperately look for this trim piece

If anyone is looking to replace theirs, I finally found a suitable replacement. tt is a bit of a PiA to get on but looks nice. Word of advice, use a small rubber mallet to tap onto/over edge. It is Truck/SUV edge trim and I bought it at O'Reillys's. Here are 2 pictures of it on and a...

    R12 Replacement

Yeah, I have been looking on Ebay. I have come to the conclusion I will find out how much it costs to do a conversion and weigh that against buying some cans of R12 to recharge the system AFTER it is leak tested. I am sure it will be cheaper than a conversion, and I KNOW it is cheaper than a...

Desperately look for this trim piece

I think they were more commonly on Blazers. When I ordered my truck, I ordered the Blazer package. They can be found in decent shape. At my local bone yard I have seen several Blazers with them still on the hood and yes, they are yellowed. I took mine and gently pealed off the yellow plastic...

Is small front cross member movement normal

Hello - I have a 1978 C10. I have had no problems with suspension, frame or steering. I went to get it inspected the other day at a local shop I have patronized before for both service work and inspections. The owner of the shop came to me and said he had some bad news. What "alerted" him is...

    R12 Replacement

It has been YEARS since I used the A/C (stays parked a lot). Compressor is original. I do believe there is a leak in the system that needs to be found as I remember having to have my dad (who was a mechanic) recharge it several times. I will discuss with my local mechanic and see what they...
