    Engine Rebuild Kit Recommendations

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I will reach out to a local engine shop and see the price for all of the machine work. I might just go with an engine replacement to save some headaches.

    Engine Rebuild Kit Recommendations

I'm looking for a recommendation for an engine rebuild kit for my 1975 GMC 1/2 ton PU with the 5.7 350 engine. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

@Mr Clean, thanks for that. That's the direction I think I'm going to head, but it's good to hear that it's an "easy fix." Any recommendations on a 110 Welder? (Flame wars start now, I suppose.)

@Grit dog All of the documentation I have and the VIN indicate it's a 1/2 ton. That's what I'm leaning toward for the bed. I'll need to start searching for a replacement and either learn how to weld or find someone local to do that work. If you have any leads for a replacement bed here in the...

Thanks all. Most importantly, as of the moment anyway, no more fluid leaks!

Replaced gaskets, now it won't start

In an effort to make myself not sound like a complete, well, doof, I'll explain my process. :D As this was my first real endeavor into a project like this I was pretty focused on keeping everything organized. Nuts/bolts got put into their own container that was labeled. Pictures were taken of...

    Help with timing mark

Texas Mike; The widest saw tooth (right side of that picture) has a 0 on the side closest to the engine. From left to right the numbers are 12, 8, 4, and 0. It would appear that the 4, 8, and 12 are referencing the peak/valleys away from the engine.

It's amazing what happens when one reconnects ALL of the wires. Now to troubleshoot some gauge issues. I'm learning that with classic vehicles, the learning never ends. :D

Replaced gaskets, now it won't start

About a month ago I started the process of going through and replacing gaskets/filters in my 1975 GMC C1500 (350 engine). I finally got it put back together today, put fluids in, and reconnected the battery. When I went to start it up, nothing. The interior light didn't come on, the dash didn't...

Oil Pan Gasket Change Out... what else?

Thanks, all. A big of weight relief, a breaker bar, some bumped knuckles, a few choice words, and they're out.
