Pull all belts, alt, AC & try to duplicate. Shouldn’t have any heat shields that are notorious for rattle at specific rpms. Might have a partially collapsed muffler that would account for it.

If you hook onto anything that acts like it does not want to move, do not give it more throttle. There’s no ROP on these old guys & the front could come up over your head, but it wont stop there.

They’re known as wax motors. Reliability is zero. They even use them to lock washing machine doors. They fail there also. That group of engineers should be fired.
Clue me in! I see the 205 is the preferred xfer case on this forum. Outside of an easy offset repair kit for a stretched 203 chain why go to all the hassle?
