For anyone still with me on this build thread, this is possible. I'm not going to say easy... but possible. I cheated and used a hydraulic clutch since my manual linkage turned out to be hanging together by hopes and dreams and I actually pushed the actuator rod through the clutch fork while I...
Update for anybody watching the thread:
So far I have about 90% of the parts for the swap. I just have to finish putting the engine back together and then install all my parts to mate the tko 600 to the 5.3. I should note that the whole point of this build is to be the most fun daily driver...
do you have a link to the flywheel on AutoZone? I have yet to find anybody that has it but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Are you using the stock mechanical clutch linkage? any modifications needed to make the linkage work? Thanks
Yeah it's going to be in the same place, it uses a stock chevy bellhousing so it should be at least pretty damn close. The only thing I'm thinking about is the LS motor mounts are adjustable forward and backward so I have to line them up properly.
They are manual linkage pedals but the z bar frame bracket was homemade so the geometry is off slightly (at least that's what I am attributing it to). I am using the stock truck bellhousing with the bearing retainer adapter to properly support the Muncie transmission so all of the linkage is...
Hey guys, I'm undertaking a big project on my first square body and that is to pull the 350TBI with a Muncie m20 in it and put in a mild 5.3 with a TKO 600 AND retain the stock mechanical clutch linkage (I know 87 comes with hydraulics but this truck is a frankentruck). For anybody that's...
Wow these are awesome pictures. Whoever sent the link to the website with this stuff big thanks to you too. If I could ask for a close-up of the spring by the clutch fork that would be much appreciated. It seems I only have one spring going from the fork to the frame.
So I found the wire with the connector tucked away behind the engine in between the firewall. Now I just have to figure out where to add it and how. I can't weld so I found a clamp on o2 **** that you just need to drill a hole in the exhaust to install. Where would you guys recommend putting it...
Interesting fix. Do you have any pictures or know of anybody who's done it that. Might have a quick writeup? Thanks for the idea it seems like it might just work
The slider works fine and the rear window seal is basically brand new and doesn't leak that's why I'm trying to refrain from buying a new unit but it seems this piece is made from unobtanium. It seems a lot of people are in my predicament I'm shocked nobody makes a replacement.
I was more hoping for a fix along the lines of limp it to an advanced auto parts. The nearest junkyard for me is about 3hrs away and they have no squarebody's. As I said this is my only car as my other car is apart for a fuel pump/regulator/lines job so is there a way to prevent it from spewing...
Yeah I've been trying to work on putting in an o2 sensor since my check engine light is always on bu I don't have a welder. I'll look into that clamp style for sure. Probably won't restore it to the filter since I'm not really sure how it's supposed to work and the added cash right now for the...
