Alright guys so we all know you can get better gas mileage by using higher grade gas, but is the cost per mile less with those fuels.... I’m planning to find out. Right now I am on my second tank of 87 octane through my 2009 Silverado I am planning to run one more tank of 87 octane and then find my price per mile in 87 octane. The next three tanks will be 89 and the three tanks after that will be 91. So far I have averaged 14 mpg on these two tanks. So far my cost per mile is $.17. My driving consists mostly of country roads and a little bit in town. I do pull trailers some as well. The picture is of my test vehicle.

Quote have heard you can get better mileage with a tune for the LS engines in trucks, maybe worth looking into.

I plan on getting the truck tuned eventually and I will report back with what does for gas mileage as well. I’m not quite ready to put a bunch of money into this truck yet. All the fun stuff will come after I sell my k30

I finished off my third tank of 87 octane today. I did a good bit of heavy towing on this tank which brought my mpg down to 13.2. My average mileage on 87 was 13.7 and had a cost of $.18 a mile. I filled up with 89 and will report back when I’m through this tank.
