I thinking on selling my GMT400 and getting a half ton 4x4 8ft bed w/350 engine for hauling/towing. I'm currently getting 16mpg on the highway/interstate unless my auto tech teacher calculated wrong. I have 26 gallon tank and pulling 330 miles with it full tank with just driving on the interstate. Would get any better than 16mpg with a squarebody 4x4 regular cab?

Don't drive over 55mph. Let your truck build up speed going down hill. Let it decelerate going up

thats exactly what i did when i first got my truck. it ran so bad i had to in order to make it anywhere! anything over half throttle would choke it down especially when cold. i bet it had 50 horsepower max.

mine is geared around 3.48 i think (somewhere around 3.5 for sure) but the 305 probably plays the biggest part in my mileage

What are you hauling back and forth on the interstate that requires a truck? Simply trading one gas-hog for another won't solve your problem.

I'm not hauling anything. I was it driving back and forth to auto tech school which about 30miles/30min drive each way going 70 on interstate.
