It’s probably a 78-79 axle. I’ve seen a couple like that from the factory the I believe were the result of mixing parts due to availability at the time GM transitioned from the D44 to the 10 bolt.

Of course, the big external type 3/4 ton bearing hubs were discontinued back before the 90’s so it could simply be replacement parts.

It’s a win either way.

The small tag is of course, the original ratio installed.
That axle would have been paired up with the NP203 full time transfer case because it has no unlocking hubs. You can install hub locks in that axle if you are using a different part time transfer case.

That axle may not be from a GM, from your pictures I do not see spring perches.

Now i have another question, remember i am a solid rookie on this, the current 10 bolt that's in my truck now, will i be able to use those calipers and hardware on the 44?

It has the GM spring perches. You can see the passenger side one where the u-bolt is molded into the pumpkin and the bottom of the drivers side one. Its all standard GM style stuff from what I can see.

I believe that is a '77 axle. Last common year for a 44 and first year for those style 8-lug hubs I believe. Also not a flat top knuckle on the passenger side.
