Drove it to a friend's house and we put in a new radiator. We also found a huge vac leak in the carb spacer. I'm going to remove the spacer and replace the gaskets

Good find on the carb spacer leak! This thing should be running like a champ soon enough!

Is the carb spacer necessary? I run an edelbrock and it already has the mounting plate. That should be enough, right?

A spacer adds plenum volume and adds to the intakes air velocity as a high rise manifold does. If your running a dual plain intake the spacer if open will assist in top end air movement. If your just cruising around in low to mid rpm range it is not needed.

Okay. I removed it. This is more of a work truck so I hopefully will not need it. I'll save it just to be safe.

There you go no harm no foul. I run one but I need it to pull higher rpm. But in a work truck you'd want the low end power of the dual plain intake.

I'm going to scream. Not sure if I can road test it because I'm now leaking gas from the passenger side tank. I'm pretty sure the tank is rusting out.

Time frame is a Blazer/Burb tank swap. Just don't get discourage if these were easy everyone would have one the select few of us bring them back from the dead or from the brink of death.

I thought I heard something come off the underside of the truck today, sounded like something was chipping away. I guess I know what it was.

Now for the question, if I do not use that side of the fuel system (and I haven't in the two years I've owned it), can I drive it?

I'd block the lines and drain it but if you haven't used it, it should be empty and ok to use.
