Be sure 15" wheels will fit over the rear drums if it has a 14 bolt. I'm not 100% sure they will, which is why I converted mine to rear disk brakes.

X2...and if they don't I hope it's not too much of a pain to return them...

I still cant understand why 16.5" tires are hard to find in your area. What kind of tread are you wanting? Summit sells truck tires too, but National Tire & Wheel might be cheaper.

Wow I'm seeing it now, aint that some ****. Looks like Super Swamper is the only one still making 16.5s, and they are the big mud tires. The other vendors I did see selling 16.5" tires, only have 33x12.50s. Wierd, where have I been lol.

I never knew they made a 15" rim with 8 lugs.

X3, make sure you got clearance on your rear drums AND front calipers for those things to fit!!!!

I'm confused. So it now has 17" rims that are narrow and hard to find tires for? And c4o is talking about 16.5" wheels?

A quick search turned up some 16" rims in Louisville which looks fairly close to you. Nothing fancy but if you're just looking for something common to roll on these could be had for less than $200.00 easy.

Plan on doing some grinding on the front calipers, and maybe running a spacer in the rear.

What backspacing did you order?

i didn't order anything yet but today i located a local shop that does tires for medium duty and heavy duty truck rims and tires.

they told me we don't have any 700-17 tires in stock but we can get 750-17 which are about an inch taller and they are a mud and snow tire 6 ply rating.

of course me being worried i asked if they do split rims and they said no problem as they have a safety cage.

they said the price for one tire mounted, balanced and the old one disposed off was 90.00 so 360 plus tax and i thought that was a great deal.

Look at the text listed between the phone numbers. The guy has five 16" rims for $125. Those 16" rims should clear any brakes you have on your truck and allow you to find tires a heck of a lot easier. Being able to buy five rims at once is nice too since you wont have to search for a spare later on. The guy is about 2 hours away from you, but I'm sure if you do a bit of searching through your local classifieds and/or call some salvage yards in your area you'll find similar deals.

Now, onto my spiel about split ring rims.

If you are not planning to restore that truck back to 100% stock condition, you should not be using those split ring wheels. That style of wheel is inherently dangerous both to people who are mounting/dismounting tires on them and also to people who merely work around them! If that ring is not properly seated onto the rim at the time the tire is mounted, or if the ring has any defects in it, you might be working on removing a wheel one day to check your brakes and have the spring loaded ring come off and strike you dead. Don't think that it can happen? Check some sites for reference:

http://www.workcover.nsw.gov.au/for...ngers_with_split_rim_tyre_assemblies_5899.pdf

Spend some time and find a good deal on some used rims and get rid of those split rings.
