I think that row of snaps was owner-added, and it may have been related to a camper or other add-on.

My '75 GMC has the Silverado trim package, and there is a row of holes along that wide flat ridge of metal that is about 6" below the window. I always assumed it was to retain fiberboard trim, storage bin, and/or insulation on the back of the cab. There are no snaps or holes close to the bottom of the window.

Dont mind my garbage back there but heres behind the seat of my 78 silverado trim. Its bolted in the corners and tucks into slots all the way across on the top. Not sure if thats the insulation in question but thats what i have.

That looks like a storage compartment. Book says insulation.

Its not really a compartment thought. Its not like a storage box or anything.
