There are 100 different opinions. I use 10w 40 and have always put casterol in everything I own. 10 different people will give you 10 different answers.

I agree with that, but i want to know if i should use 10w40 or 15w30 or ....

On newer motors 5w30 or 10w30 is more than enough for most engines. As engines get more and more wear and tear you may find to keep oil pressure up you may need to switch to something more like 10w40.

If your running 15w30 I would have to think you have some oil pressure issues.

I ran 20w50 in a Honda Civic once because it had a hole in a exhaust valve and engine went through a ton of oil

that is what i'm going to do tomorrow , change the oil to 10w40 !

but i still have the problem with "the loose bolt" ??
should i remove the valve covers and check out what going on ?

Easiest way to know if your timing chain has any slack or is giving you grief is pull the vacuum advance off the distributor and start the truck and put a timing light on your harmonic balancer and see if its bouncing erratically.

I HIGHLY doubt you have a loose bolt situation anywhere. Common noise issues Chevy 350s is either exhaust leak at the manifold (either block or pipe connection) or a lifter.

you can hear the engine run cold here, after 10 minuts the sound is gone ?

I had a 350 make that EXACT same noise before, turned out to be a fractured rocker arm. It ended up breaking before I had a chance to look into the noise. Changed the rocker and pushrod after that happened, all was well.

Need to pull the valve covers for inspection.

After listening to the video it almost sounds like rod knock to me.

Either way .. not going to be fun to figure it out.

change that oil. Fire it up and go for a drive. Before or after pull the valve covers to check your rockers. If that is rod knock it's because your oil is too thick. Has using that oil done permanent damage.... hope not :)

just change the oil, and a new filter ... seems like the noise is gone !

Awesome! Give it a few more driving runs though. Remember colds starts are where you want the oil to flow the most.
