Switching over to gps speedo help

looking into getting all new gps gauges for my 73. I have a th400 tranny and was wondering what you guys would do when you have the old speedo gear open lie that in the tranny. Mine leaks and was wondering if anyone makes a plate to cover it or welds the bracket to it?

No biggie it's done all the time, use a freeze plug type plug..

I'd use a cap if male threads, bolt/set screw style if female.
