Hello What is the downside to flipping the shackles to give you some lift. I have been doing research on it and it is supposed to give a cheap strong lift. How it is done is you cut a section of the bracket so the shackle folds down. It just looks like it is weak so if you reinforce it will it help. And does anyone know how much lift it gives you.
Thanks

Just an economical version of the ORD kit. Sometimes it worth it to do things the right way.

Cut an opening in the bottom of the hanger, for the shackle to pass through. Then weld on a brace above the shackle (where the shackle used to be). Using a stock shackle, it will be about a 5 inch lift.

It wont be 5" of lift. It might have the difference of 5" but you have to divide that number in half, since you're only lifting the rear half of the spring.

Flipping the shackle on the same pivot point will raise the rear of the spring about 10 inches, assuming the stock shackle is used. I think they are right around 5 inches long aren't they?

I dont think so, more like 3.5" but since I dont have a stock one anymore I can't say for sure. I can say the ORD shackles look longer than stock and yield 4" of lift flipped.

Ok so It is a 1 ton shackle so from what ure saying is that i divide it about half so doesn't that mean that i should get about 6 inch of lift. The shackle is 11 inches.

Cool if that measurement is from bolt hole to bolt hole it should net around 5.5" lift then.

EDIT: actually that doesnt sound right. 11"??? Are you sure about that.

So I have that right you measure the length of the bracket then divide it in half and that is the lift you get.

No let's start this over. The shackle is what you need to measure. It bolts to the leaf spring and the bracket.
