I understand that a left side tank and a right side tank are the same. Since I have an extra tank, how hard would it be to install dual tanks???

The tanks are the same, but the sending units are different because the ports face in opposite directions. I'm not sure if the hoses are identical, or if some of those fittings are also reversed.

Since your truck is a '73, the main tank is the right/passenger side tank, just like my '75. I pulled all the dual tank wiring, switches and solenoid from a junkyard truck, but the wiring path for the 2nd tank is a little unusual. If you really want to do the conversion, follow up to this post and I will explain the wiring path they used to make the sending unit feeds and solenoid power switch properly.

This all you need to know, Big shout out and thanks to chengny

BTW: I bought new tanks and new sending units and the sending unit are the same. They mount as to orient (clock) on an o-ring. Just my 2 cents.

Hmm. I have a pair of original senders from a '78 dual tank truck and they are opposites of each other.

But you can use either sending unit on either side. You just have to loop the rubber hoses around and back towards the frame.
