Blocks do make more mechanical (dis)advantage. You could do a rear shackle flip if the price of just front springs, shocks and u-bolts + the shackle flip kit comes in cheaper than that complete kit (or other). Pay a little more for heavier duty shackles and it will lessen concern about folding the stock shackle hauling heavy loads. Also don't forget the added expense of steering correction parts.

Most newer 3/4 and 1 ton 4x4 trucks have blocks in the rear, and the manufactures all brag about their towing capacities. From an axle wrap standpoint, a shackle flip is best. From a spring stability standpoint, blocks are better.
