I've actually been tossing around installing electric exhaust cut outs to where when I want to run open headers (just for the grins annoy people at stop lights) I can just flip a switch and be running open :D I haven't completely decided on it yet but I think it'd be pretty cool to have :D
I wanted to do that too, I seen those cable opertated ones at JCWhitney, but I don't think that would passs state inspection here.

Most electric cut-outs are not good quality. Theres a good brand everyone uses thats still cheap but I cant remember the name right now.

You're right they are mostly for sound, its been dyno proven that (on LS trucks anyway) opening the cutouts for track doesnt improve et times

Yeah it doubles as a show truck and garage queen lol. Maybe one day I can make a quick thread on it in the general section or something

So guys, what about an X or H pipe under the C20? Where do those even go, before or after the mufflers? Would there even be room? I'm about to go look

Just talked to my uncle, the best place is within 36" from the engine.

Said it can be any size, I'll see what kind of fittings summit sells. Might go a 2" H pipe.

I think I am going to do all this myself. My step dad has a car lift, and he builds race cars for a living. many a time growing up he would order a box of pipe and fittings from Hedman, Hooker, etc and we'd custom build a set of headers for some big block car.

I've got the headers and mufflers, now I need flanges to meet the header flanges, good quality gaskets, enough straight 2.5" pipe to do the whole thing, fittings for the H pipe, an I'll be looking into pre-bent pipes for over the axle exit. I dont know if they make such a thing for this truck but they did for my 01 once upon a time.

The muffler man wants $240 bucks to weld all of it up, thats him supplying everything but the headers and mufflers. But he still uses the old style bender, which crushes the pipe and I dont like the look or the flow. So I'll be doing some research on Summit to see what I can get.

I wonder if a 2 inlet/2 outlet muffler would be a good option for an X/H-pipe? Probably not for our trucks, as close as the cross member seems to be.

That's awesome to have access to a lift, that's every backyard mechanics dream. If you are not having it welded, if you are doing this yourself, look into those stainless steel band clamps. They work good and don't crush the pipes, and makes it easy to disasemble if you got to take the exhaust off to do other work on the truck or if ya want to change things around on the exhaust itself in the future. Just a suggestion bro.

I was going to use those on the 01 but ended up not going wig the slip fits.

All this will be welded.

My dad also has a car lift, but it's heavy duty and rated for 14,000 lbs. It's just laying in some pallets. He doesn't have the money to set it up...he owes me a lot of money and I could probably get it from him but in this new house I cant put it up out rhere
