Hello everyone, like the title states i was wondering if anyone here has ever tried retro-ftiiing a 1975 style wiper switch and floor mounted dimmer switch onto an 84 and up c10. The reason is i have parts available from a 75 gmc c25 and have a huge dislike for the plethora of switches on my turn signal stalk. I do not care if the wipers have to be a simple on/off style or even if they don't self park, i just would like any input from anyone who has possibly tried this and it the switch will work with my 84 wiper motor and dimmer with original connector before i find out the hard way. Thanks

-Jim

The '78-'83 wiper switch would be fairly easy to install, but the '77 and earlier stuff is a bit of an ordeal. The earlier stuff was also a little more problematic.

The dimmer switch is easy-peasy. Just unplug the harness from the column switch, cut off the unused portion of the connector, then reroute it down to the foot switch. It will plug right in. The floor is also dimpled where the mounting screws go.

Thank you for the help. i was able to find a 1981 chevy van with the dimmer and wiper switch. i just remembered that my column is from a 1987 suburban due to the rack and sector gear breaking in my origional column and unavailable parts. Ever since i swapped them my wiper switch on column only has 1 speed and the park position doesnt work (have to hold until wipers are fully down then release switch) well i changed everything and it works but still have problems with wipers.
