Hello everyone.

I've had an '84 K-10 longbed for about three years now.

It had a good bit of rust on the cab, but it ran great ... for about a year, when it suffered a wiring harness meltdown in the driveway.

I picked up a painless harness to do a complete rewire.....but one thing always seems to lead into another.... and now I am deep into swapping the cab with a fairly rust free C-10 cab I picked up at the local "pick-your-part".

I am also considering swapping the Jasper 350 with a spare '96 LT-1 that I pulled from one of my Caprices...... but the Jasper was running pretty good too....so I don't know.

Anyway, I'm glad to have found this site.

You gotta put some pictures up of your K10 now. I was not aware caprices came with Lt1's, were they ex cop cars?

Yes Caprices were available with LT1's. Most were police cars but could be had in "non-police car" form. My grandma's has a 305

The truck is sitting with the fenders off, and the cab mounts undone...well, one unscrewed, two broke and the other has such a bad bushing that we don't need to do anything with it. But i'll try to see if I have any pictures i can post.

The 1994 - 1996 Caprice could be ordered with either the L99 (305) or the LT-1 (350). LT-1 was standard for the Impala SS.
All LT-1 cars all came with dual exhaust, where the L-99's did not...so that's a good way to tell at a glance.
The LT-1 equipped police cars (9C1) came with either the L99 or the LT-1...but all came with rear disk brakes. All Impala SS models came with LT-1 and rear disks.
Since I couldn't pony up the cash for an Impala SS, I instead bought a white 1995 9C1 w/ LT-1....then bought a 1995 grey/green 9C1 w/ LT-1, since one was not enough. Then I bought a silver 1996 "civilian" Caprice (with LT-1) for the wife. It was fully optioned with leather interior, etc... and she loved it. For the price of a decent Impala SS, I was able to get three very good condition Caprices.
Unfortunately, the silver '96 was totaled last year, while my brother was borrowing it (wasn't his fault though). I bought back the salvage and have been parting it out to myself.

My main project right now is the K-10 though, since I REALLY want to be driving it again and also wouldn't mind the wife getting off my back too

I have never done such an extensive project before so it took me a little while to get motivated, but after reading up on it and perusing the messages here I decided to get on it and try to not just get it running, but to actually restore it....at least as much as my budget will allow.
