Hello from the northwest. Bought a '78 C2500 3/4 camper special wideside longbed in winter 2015. It's running but tired. Slowly putting things together. Right now I'm finishing the interior and trying to solve a vapor lock issue

. The goal for first phase is to get it running reliably so the wife stops complaining and we can use it for home depot and dump hauls, along with finishing the interior. From there I'll start on ext painting etc. Here's a few pics from the progress so far. -Pat

Don’t try to start it when it’s hot. That’s how I solve every vapor lock problem I’ve ever had. Peace.

Thanks, also have a carpet set from ACC. Here's how the interior looked before I started, with the exception of the steering wheel which I put in on day one..and a cheap seat cover. I've also fabbed up a stock fitment front dash mount for aftermarket speakers using 1/4" MDF with boston acoustic speakers, and bought a surprisingly cheap bluetooth stereo to go with it. I'm trying to find some oem rear speaker brackets to complete the sound. Currently have some 6x9's

in boxes that work but won't let the seat go all the way back. Btw the dash panel and door panels are originals that I repainted with sema vinyl paint..just the trim was replaced. I had to fiberglass the corners of the door panels on the inside to stop the flex and brittleness.

You're right Big Chip. I've had to learn alot about these trucks. It's a 49 state model with no fuel return and the PO put hedman headers in that literally touch the fuel intake line..so there's that. Plus the fuel inlet plumbing sets against the intake. I have a lot to figure out in that area. I think I'll trash the headers and go back to stock manifolds with duel out. The day that it died on me in the middle of rush hour traffic was our record 102 day last summer, which is blistering for Oregon. It runs fine cold.

Right on, leave the old girl parked under the tree when it’s hot like that.

So what does 102 degrees with a bunch of south side meth addicts smell like? Does it clash pretty hard with the patchouli stinking dope smoker stench?

You must know Oregon :) You know, I shouldn't have taken her out that day, but I had an air compressor to pick up at Sears lol. Lesson learned.

Does it have a Quadrajet? Just getting that pre-bent steel line would get rid of all that uncertainty if you do. I think Summit has them, probably LMC...
