just curious what you guys recommend, and or run on your trucks. I have a 74 k10 with a 350. I will be getting a set of long tube headers, and duals back from there. Im thinking I want something that sounds nasty and mean, but something where I can still have a conversation in the cab/ not piss the neighbors off in the morning.

ps... I don't really care for the hollow/raspy sound... need something with a rumble

based on what you've stated your likes and dislikes are I'd suggest a Magnaflow

YouTube vids as well as listening to different setups on trucks similar to yours if there are any in your area. Keep in mind with the YouTube vids, though, the sound will often times be slightly off than what it actually is but it should give you a decent idea.

I'm liking the magnaflows I had installed on the truck about 2 months ago. I had the Thrush Welded mufflers before (baffled ones like Flowmaster). It had a very annoying resonance at 2100 RPM, which was at 45 mph (which I drive a lot at that speed).

Muffler shop recommended magnaflows. Now it is very quiet and idle and low speed. Sounds like a stock vehicle but once you open it up a bit it gets loud and mean sounding. I like it a lot.

Huh, that pretty much describes my Flowtech Purple Hornies glasspacks. Quiet at idle, loud as hell at WOT. Me likes.

1) Dynomax 17553 Ultra Flo X - I plan for the K5 with 3 inch tips. Will be the bestest thing ever.
1) Dynomax Super Turbo 2.25 (excellent muffler) originally bought new to follow the L69 in the SS, now in the C20. I put the other one on a gfs 3.0L Maxima. 20 years old. The muffler, not the gf...It sounds bomb.
2) Flowmaster 40s 2.5" dual outlet (for Corvette- can you imagine?!) with 4) 4 x 3 inch fiberglass packed tips. - I bought these USED out of the Camaro yard, about 17 years ago they see mostly race duty in the SS. Rattle windows at idle and knock pictures off the wall WITH an 'H' pipe.

I love the sound of my dual Flowmaster 40's, but will admit that they are a little loud and droney around 30-40mph. Doesn't help that mine are dumped under the bed, so I'll bet that just increases the problem.

The best way is to go to a local cruise and check out different vehicle's sound, hear one you like talk to the owner about his setup. Hearing it live is the only way to get real sound effects.
